THE FINALE

Gatsby’s American Dream- Self Titled

You All Everybody-
This is a promising start! I like the intro to this song, and then once it takes off it really takes off. The guitars on this one are shredding, and have some very catchy lines as well as some rippers. Catchy too. This is a good song and intro.

We Can Remember It For You Wholesale-
Another great track, this album is impressing me so far. This song has a bit more of a gritty bite To it than the last one, and I actually like the lyrics quite a bit. Some nice thumping drums, and the guitars are a bit catchy and have a nice rhythm to it.

Badd Beat-
While not as strong as the last two, I do still like this one. These guys are on point musically on this album, and even from just these three songs I am enjoying this more than the past two albums. This song has an almost dance groove to it, but with a rock bite to it. Good song in a string of three good ones.

My Name Is Ozymandias-
And another one! I like the vocals on this one, they do some cool vocal stuff on this one with some nice echoing vocals, and this is the most sound collective his voice has been thus far on these songs. Another great track, which also contains a niiiiice guitar riff on the bridge and breakdown.

Margaritas and The Cock-
This one is pretty smooth. I like this one; and I also like the progression this album has so far. Each song flows nicely into the next one, and it seems that they are firing on all cylinders in this album. This song in particular has a lot of cool nuances such as nice bass lines during the verses, good stuff.

Station 5: The Pearl:
This one is pretty cool. It kinda flows nicely, it’s catchy, and his vocals are again on point with some nice lyrics to them. It’s one of the weaker songs so far but still good

Shadow Of The Colossus:
Yeasss. This one is my favorite so far. The guitar riffs on this one are shredding and have a very very good rhythm to them. His vocals are also great in this one, doing this cool stretching of the words and beat matching style, and then some background shouting. This just has everything I’ve liked about the previous tracks rolled into one.

Filthy Beasts:
This is a nice one and has some cool riffs to it. It didn’t stand out so much after the awesomeness of the last song, but I still liked it with its cool guitar parts and that cool static transmission talking in the background. Nice but not the strongest

Looks Like The Real Thing:
Another ripper. This song has a lot of energy to it, and musically all of the musical parts are on their game. I like the switch upthst comes half way through the song, and things just go crazy.

Me And Ed Loyce:
Catchiest song on the album, hands down. This one has a catchy hook to it in his vocal patterns that are his best so far. I like this one and would like more like this one. It’s also cool how the guitar matches with his vocals in its best. Caught myself humming thisby the second half of the song.


The White Mountain:
Not a bad closer at all, this one is good. It works really well to close out the album, and while it isn’t the strongest song on the album it works for its role. It’s not a bad song by any means and the biting guitar and bass of this one close out the album on a positive note.

Conclusion: if there was a GAD album I return to it’s gonna be this one. I joked earlier that maybe this album would wow me, but it ended up actually doing that! This was good, I liked it and would come back to it easily.

Nice. I hope you do return to it. When I first listened to Gatsbys it didn't catch me instantly, took a few listens then out of nowhere a song would get stuck in my head. The first album of theirs I heard was Volcano and it took a few listens but once I knew who they were and what to expect from them their other albums really sunk in. I'd say that it's a tie for my favorite between the 3 I assigned to you with R&S possibly winning out by a hair.

 

I’ll havw to give them more listens, but this one I am already listening to a second time right after. I didn’t do tht with the other two

 

I listened to it on my way to get my kids. It's a great album. Glad you enjoyed it.
