The accents in this film are gong to give me some great laughs

 

So excited this is finally happening. I love what they did with Venom's voice - so dark. I also love the scene with Eddie wringing his hands talking to the symbiote. Trying to quell my expectations, but this is looking promising.

 

Is "symbiote" ever pronounced like that? If not, they can always just ADR it I guess. Anyways, looks fun. I can't wait to see more interactions between Hardy and the symbiote. Interested to see how distracting Tom Hardy's accent will or won't be. Benedict Cumberbatch's American accent in Doctor Strange was a little distracting.

 

I can appreciate a good dick joke, but I fail to see how something resembling a snake tongue looks like one lol it looks exactly the way it does in the comics

 

Venom’s new trailer struggles without Spider-Man

Article has a couple interesting points, but is overall a pretty dumb piece.

Saying that the movie looks like a monster movie with no heroes.. uhh, the hero is obviously Brock trying to overcome the monster. Also don't think the studio is trying that hard not to cover Hardy's face, it's pretty standard for him to switch back and forth in the comics.

I do agree that Spider-Man really does create the character Venom, and without learning his skills from Spider-Man and then developing a hatred of him for rejecting him, he's an entirely different character, so this should be interesting. I'm gonna be annoyed if he starts swinging from buildings like SM without having bonded to him to learn that, though.

 

Venom w/out Spidey > Venom w/ Spidey.

 

Is there a version in the comics where Spidey doesn't have the suit first? I'm mostly familiar with the 90s fox kids cartoon and all of the ultimate comics prior to Miles.

Okay rewatched and I cant say Im feeling that the symbiote just like goes through the shirt a couple times when the guys behind him and especially the motorcycle. It just looks kind of cheap to me. Still love the look of Venom and think itll like even more badass when we see the full body. Even in what we got we can see how massive his traps are and the camera kind of pans upward so Im hoping hes massive. How small SM3 Venom was also another letdown about that design.

Also I really hope Riz Ahmed isnt Carnage.

 

i highly doubt it. it seems like it'd woody. and reid scott is apparently toxin.

 

Where have you heard of Toxin being in this??

Wouldn't be too surprised based on the lab in the trailer. I also wonder if they're going to show that they are asexual and have Carnage spawn from Venom. I sure hope so.

i have no interest in this movie but man that "we are venom" part was pretty f'n cool

 

I personally say “sim-bee-oht” but I’ve heard plenty of people pronounce it the other way. Like Merriam-Webster said, both are correct. The internet just needs something to complain about like always though.

 

Nah I don’t care. Symbiotic. Symbiote. Easy transition to make for me

 

In Star Wars almost every name and planet is pronounced differently. Han. Jabba. Alderaan.

for those keeping score, reddit also has issues with: tom hardy's "accent," that motorcycle jump, the opening line "you work for an evil person," what's gonna be on his chest if peter parker isn't involved

 

I'm all in on this other than the symbiote pronunciation

 

The emblem on his chest will be interesting. If they use a spider then it won't make much sense since Spider-Man apparently doesn't have any connection to the symbiote.
