Fuck, Kanye and Eminem are really the antithesis of each other

One focused highly on lyrics, the other on production and song writing

One very stuck in one style, the other constantly reinventing themselves

One criticized for homophobic lyrics, the other very pro LGBT from early in their career

One vehemently anti-Trump to the point it’s cringy, the other pro-Trump and following right wing nutjobs

Sheesh, I might have to be a Stan now

Dr. King wasn't partisan. Like any reasonable person in America.

Also even if he was, to constantly compare the parties today to back then is some weird gotcha that doesn't work.

Sorry I know this isn't a pol thread, just so people are aware.

No, Martin Luther King was not a Republican

I used to like MBDTF a lot more and it certainly was a very formative album for me but over time I've grown to be less and less enamored with it

Def get why ppl love it though no h8

Also Last Train to Paris is way more my speed in terms of star-studded 2010 albums by global rap superstars that act as a introspective look into the intersection of fame, ego, relationship woes, etc., etc.

I go back and forth with MBDTF. At first, while I really loved it, I pushed back against so many people calling it like the greatest hip hop album ever because it was the first album that got them into the genre. I still push back, especially from people not super into the genre, because albums like that and GKMC are so reliant on references and callbacks to the history of the genre that I simply don't understand how someone can call it an opus without recognizing the context of the album. Sure, they can enjoy it, but to see some people who dismissed or ignore the genre writing essays on how good MBDTF is just strikes me as a bit insincere.

As more and more years go by and I ignore the think pieces and hyperbole behind it, it's certainly a unique and impressive album that deserves a lot of the praise it gets. It will be the album he's remembered for, even if it isn't my favorite.

It took me a long while to come to Yeezus after loving the bombast of MBDTF.

Now it's my second favorite. It's bombastic in its own way.

Blood on the Leaves best Yeezus song, don't at me.

Yeezus is perfect. No half with Send It Up and Guilt Trip and Bound 2 and Blood on the Leaves can be trash.

being a kanye fan over the past eight years has also been a consistent grappling with "how much can i really enjoy the production of these albums when the words are mostly garbage"
