    The rivalry is back on

Sure, it’s the 4th round. I don’t think there are bad picks at this point

The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to trade picks 111 and 135 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for Dante Fowler Jr.

@Randall Mentzos is on the clock.

On the Fowler trade: He was taken pick 3, and via Allen Robinson we've already seen that ACL tears / stunted development won't make a guy's contract come cheap. His status as a player commands $14-$16 mill per season - and I'd rather pay that to Yannick who is earning it by forcing 13 fumbles in 2 seasons.

We still have over 200mil invested in Dareus, Campbell, and Malik so I'm thinking we can only afford one of our young DEs. I also think that our pass rush remains dominant without Fowler - that just makes Campbell our full time strongside end. So I choose Yannick as the franchise piece, and in the meantime, steal this DE in the fourth round -- to add affordable depth and competition that I can wait to resign until Campbell is gone.

    -------------------
Jacksonville Jaguars select Josh Sweat, DE, Florida State.

I guess @tkamB is the only guy who is woke to this dude's immense potential, and he didn't take him in round two this time, so he slipped.

We'll call it injury concerns since the dude has had surgery on his ACL, MCL AND PCL in a major knee repair -- but he still ran a 4.52 40' at the Combine and jumped 39.5 inches, so I'd say that's about as much of a concern as Myles Jack's knee.

He's also 6'5" with nearly 35 inch arms, presenting length we don't have outside of Calais Campbell. He's one of the best "projection" talents in the draft, but also shows much better technique and gap responsibility than similar prospects like Chad Thomas (Miami). I believe in our coaching and the vets on our DLine to teach him how to channel his speed and pass rush with a "plan".

While his production wasn't great, he projects better for us than most with his athletic package because he played with his hand down and was asked to set edges / play the run. He doesn't have the sack totals Yannick Ngakoue had, but he has the potential to outplay his midround draft slot in similar fashion, offering excellent explosiveness off the edge without getting washed out on running plays.

He fits nicely behind Yannick Ngakoue while we still have Duwane Smoot as a backup run-support defender for Calais.

    What's this for?

    Cincinnati Bengals select:

    Jordan Lasley, WR, UCLA

Wouldn't be a Bengals draft if they didn't take a character issue player. Jordan has the talent. Ross wasn't looking great last year, this provides some security.

not only do i love the shit out of my draft so far, but it's also very Jaguars.

    1) A WR that Keenan McCardell recruited and coached (Coughlin trusts McCardell)
    2) a physical run support / press-man CB from UCF
    3) I kept up our recent tradition of drafting a mid round pass rusher - from FSU

Ideally, that's our successors to ARob & Colvin right there, and perhaps Sweat takes coaching better than Fowler did once he was healthy. I also like the extra 4th round pick I snagged - even though I shipped off Fowler, I got back what we gave for Dareus.
