There is some good stuff there. But the decline starts there.

Are there really that many shows that weren't in decline in their 4th season? Lol

Valid point. One show that doesn’t fit is breaking bad. But that’s an exception.

Haha yeah that's the only one I could come up with off the top

Idk in hindsight I can definitely see a difference between season 2-3 and season 4, but at the time watching it live it was my favorite season (died laughing at Michaels plasma tv, the deposition and the chair model, fist pumped at michaels awkward wooing of holly). Might be because it was the first season where my whole family watched it together. My older brother watched the pilot and basically forced me to watch the next episode with him (diversity day!) and it the first three seasons were the only thing we had in common. Season four was when we finally convinced the rest of the family (through years of relentless obscure references) to give it a chance. It was broader but equally as funny and heartwarming in my opinion. Season 5 immediately felt different to me, not sure why, but from then on the show was very hit or miss for me.

Parks & Rec (season 4 is one of the weaker seasons but then the show ramps up majorly after that) and Breaking Bad are the only two I can think of off the top of my head that don't really have a dip in quality starting season 4.

The greatest show ever made, Mad Men, was already at a pretty high level but starting with season 4 and onward, only got better and better until a perfect finale.

I think I'm in the minority but always felt like Cheers got much better once Kirstie Alley replaced Shelly Long in Season 6

It seems like S4 was the beginning of the "let's just do wild stuff that isn't what people could normally relate to in an office setting," and some of the wilder stuff is still very funny, but not in the vein of S1-S3.

There were plenty of things in the first three seasons you could describe as wild stuff that isn't what people could normally relate to in an office setting.

I agree, I just think the jump from S3 to S4 is larger in that regard.

After the Emmy win and success in ratings, I think NBC/the producers wanted to up the ante. Remember the first four episodes of S4 were hour-long ones.

I wish they didn't ditch Holly and Michael's relationship halfway through S5. She was great and it was nice seeing the two of them together with such similar personalities.

I'm already aware she returns later on, but having her get transferred feels like a dumb decision in the first place. Maybe she just didn't want to sign on as a regular? Idk.

That's my guess, she's primarily a film actress and probably had prior commitments and had to leave.

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

The scene where they're on the floor and she does the Yoda voice back to him and his touched reaction. UGH..... so good.

I wait for that moment every time. The first time I saw it I was like “dammit, Michael” and then she replied the way she did and I was so happy.

I think my favorite Michael/Holly episode is the one where Michael gets lost and dwight erin and holly go to find him and the reunite on the rooftop. The proposalepisode is good but my favorite part about that episode is actually jim's magic beans prank.

Haha thanks, I appreciate it ;) I'm about a third of the way through S5, last saw the episode where Toby returns.

I realize it's a super old show and I really don't care about spoilers, so no need to worry about it anyway!

That bit where Holly has Michael executed on the roof is where the show really took a down turn for me.

    Not cool.

That’s like telling someone 2 seasons into LOST that the polar bear was a time traveling Jack who got stuck in a polar bear body after acquiring the ability to morph from the Andalites by touching the escafil device on his ship.

I could not disagree more about S4 of Parks being one of the weaker seasons
