I'm just waiting here for more Hawthorne Heights discussion.

It's not Hawthorne Heights without Mork, Mart and Traversal though.

haha this was my go-to comment anytime anyone said "It's not Blink without the original lineup!"

I'm officially submitting that "hawthorne heights" and any related discussion of the aforementioned be stricken from the record of this thread and to never be discussed again in any capacity.

    all in favor say "aye"

Hella respect for Hawthorne Heights. I hope this is the start of more bigger gigs for them again.

I love untitled and I think it is blink's best record after Dude Ranch, but a lot of the production zaps the energy out of it IMO

what's wrong with the production? I remember people loving it?

  9. Production is like half of the reason I love untitled.

Production is real clean and crisp, which is fine, but IMO it is a little too clean on some tracks and detracts slightly from the raw energy of the faster songs.

It's definitely crisp, but it's definitely not as polished as enema or toypaj.

    Shut Up

I prefer the production on Enema/TOYPAJ to Untitled.

  13. What I like about untitled is that the production really changes to fit the needs of each song. Like, Feeling This has that perfect pop-punk sound, Go and Stockholm Syndrome both sound really raw, All of This sounds like no other song on the record, etc.

TOYPAJ's production is great, but the record sounds the same from start to finish. That's a not a bad thing, but it's why I pay special attention to the production on untitled.

My favorite part of the production of all of TOYPAJ is that there's a drastic change in volume between the verses and choruses of STFTK.

Even though that changes all the time and I find the concept of having favourite bands more and more complicated with each year. Except for the first two..

I have the the opposite opinion! I fee like there's so much more energy on untitled. The drums sound real, not super sampled and stylized. Lots of room sound, love it all around

Dude Ranch and Enema for me. TOYPAJ is solid throughout. I disagree with @popdisaster00 because when you compare STFTK to Shut Up to First Date, they all have a very different sound and production quality to them.

besides those I mainly circle through favorites from different bands. as tall as lions, appleseed cast, lot of instrumental or score music. every once in a while i'll try to get into a new band or two but can't seem to find the motivation or energy to go looking for new stuff.

edit: i'd say blink and ritter are in a 1a/1b type scenario. blink is the nostalgia and who I was and ritter is more what I appreciate about life/music now.

If there were two records that I would never change one bit of the production, they would be TDAGARIM by Brand New and the Untitled record.

Also, on the Green Day thing. Travis elevates blink for me as a whole. Not that I dislike him one bit, and I'd even put Green Day's best over blink's best if I had to choose, but Tre Cool bores the everloving crap out of me now.

  25. me too!

and talking about the TOYPAJ production/mixing, my favorite moment of that whole album is on "Everytime I Look For You" in the bridge when it's just Tom's guitar and then it busts into the full band part. When the full band comes in it just kicks your ass, and I love it!
