i like this a lot -- its influences are totally & obviously clear, but that's not a bad thing IMO. i still listen to The '59 Sound even though Born to Run is just as easy to access or w/e.

aside from the derivativeness, if people want to call it that i wouldn't say it's unfair, there's a good amount to latch onto and it's catch in its own right.

menzingers are the low-hanging fruit comparison but it also made me think of the poppier captain, we're sinking songs, and not as directly from a sonic perspective, but i definitely feel like they could go on tour with a red city radio or nothington (RIP) or the holy mess (RIP, i didn't google it but i cannot imagine that band is still active)

 

Totally forgot about The Holy Mess.. Turned into a huge RCR fan this year would love that pairing. Although I want Menz to take RCR out

This also is definitely a perfect in between of Menz/Capt imo

 

def gonna try to see this band on saturday in brooklyn now that i know they exist

 

I've been seeing this album/band mentioned a whole lot in the past week whether it be from other bands, band members, internet friends etc. Very cool to see it spreading

Also I strongly believe their Fest set will be a highlight of the year for me

 

The Boy Considers His Haircut is probably my favorite song I’ve heard this year.

This band is excelente. First listen to this reminded me of the first time I listened to Home, Like No Place Is There. Went in with zero expectations and got floored.

 

Between listening to this and the longshot record for the each the first times this morning its been a darn good morning. Now im gonna go enjoy the heck outta this weather and drink a beer outside.

 

I am loving the fuck out of this

At the point with this record where I love every song so I just listen on repeat over and over

 

I haven’t listened to anything else all week, it’s perfect.

 

I described this to my friend as “As if the Menzingers were less concerned with writing classics and masterpieces and instead decided to write a bunch of songs that slap”

 

I was coming here to say something to this effect.

 

This is def AOTY material here ...

The Menzingers influence and worship is apparent but as someone who loves The Menzingers, I'm okay with it.
