    I'm Back.

The only reason I brought it up is due to the LENGTHY post made by some person on Reddit talking about this and other things relating to the history of the Wight Walkers, or the Others as I guess they're called in the books.

Another interesting tid bit I came across was the fact that it looked as if the Children of The Forrest's little grenades were charged by some kind of ice power. Only saying that because they glowed blue before thrown.

the sense i got is it was more an unintended result of bran not being ready to control his greensight and warging abilities. that's why they had 3ER state as much earlier in the episode.

it also might be to provide a rational limit to bran's powers, just so he can't be going into the past and warging shit whenever he feels like it. he's now seen the consequences.

I liked Theon calling Yara a reaver. Pretty much confirms she's taking Victarions place.

Did Bran use Willis to warg into Hodor inception style from the past, or was Willis's seizure a result of Bran warging into Hodor while he was simultaneously in the past?

I think in either case, its certainly a result of Bran being unaware of the consequences of his actions rather than any sort of malice on Bran's part, but Bran using Willis seems worse. (Bran warging into Hodor is already ethically gray, warging into someone he doesn't know and who is sound of mind is way worse)

even given this i think forcing hodor to die is kinda beyond the pale

I understand your frustration, but isn't sacrificing one more person for the sake of ultimately saving the human race a net positive?

I felt that the dialogue in this episode alone put it in the top 5 for me. I don't know what a "typical" game of thrones episode is because this show I think is very well paced, and since there are only 10 per season they do a very good job at pacing.

Sansa and Littlefinger's scene was tense, emotional and very well done and it was just two people standing in a shack. That is not easy. Though she hates him now, she is still struggling with her connection to him which led her to lie to her own brother.

Dany and Jorah's conversation, along with her sending him for a cure, was major and 2 seasons coming.

The Greyjoy's battle for power ending with Yara and Theon leaving with their fleet is major. The iron islands are now divided and Euron threatening to kill them isn't badly done. It's right in his character. They question his authority, he killed their father, and he is a loose cannon as shown in the books.

Arya watching that play along with being sent back out to try a second time is big too. Then they hit you with a teabag right in your face.

Jon and his army are now in motion, and we know they are going to war with Ramsey as well as pulling in the other houses of the north.

On top of all of this, for the first time at least that I can remember we saw Varys in a vulnerable position and the priestess was great.

I thought it was a lot to take in just at that, and then the revelation with Bran, Hodor, and the white walkers knocked it out of the park.

If you think this show is very well paced, we must be watching two entirely different shows because Dorne is a glaring example at how poorly paced this show can be. Also, the wall in season four.

And I think it was incredibly shoddy dialogue to have Euron reawaken and just say "Where are my niece and nephew. Let's kill them." I get that it's in his character, but that was just poorly done.

When I read this quote "child's snow knight" = "snow man" in today's terms.

Its just a jab at Sam.

the latter. as i interpreted it, the minds of past and present hodor linked at the moment bran was simultaneously greenseeing and warging. this altered the past for a brief moment, inducing a seizure in past hodor while the only thought running through present hodor's mind was "hold the door". this one 'new fact' about the future then had to become congruent with the past.

im not sold on the idea that the only way to ensure humans survive is by removing what makes us human.

Dude. You're watching a show set in medieval times. The fundamental cost of anything changing in this series is human lives.

i think that cake was proverbially baked. everything, seemingly to this point, was set in stone, including bran having to learn this lesson about the consequences of his powers.

human lives willingly sacrificed by a human with agency is different than them being mind controlled into self sacrifice.
yeah i mean everything is obviously this weird timeline jigsaw puzzle where it cant be changed but that doesn't make it any less upsetting to me to see bran do it

The whole Bran/Willis/Hodor event calls into question the whole fate vs. free-will conversation for me.

Since we first met Willis, we have known his as Hodor. This is before we knew of Bran's abilities.

This would mean that Bran was destined to do the simultaneous warg/green-see thing well before we knew he was capable of it.

This conversation makes me real mad that they removed Mance Raydar's son.

Anyone have any idea about the preview for next week's episode? Some say Benjen showed back up to save them.

It's probably Coldhands. At this point I can't imagine Benjen has just been chilling in the north the entire time.
