I finally listened to it... yeah that thing is disappointing to say the least.

Is it weird that I got into them with No Closer to Heaven, listened to that album heavy when it came out, and then haven't thought much about them since? Just popped this on like "oh yea I liked them" and yea I'm down with this album too. Super super cool.

Finally getting around to this album. Is it just me or is the mix kinda fucked? Listening in 320kbps and it feels so much lower.

The mix lacks a lot of clarity in the guitars. Hard to make out the different guitars during busier moments. There's a general lack of presence in the mix too like there's a shelf on the high frequencies

I think the vocal production is ace and the drums are mostly good. Wish the guitars and bass weren't so hard to distinguish in the mix though.

I will say that buying the CD is the first time I really saw a noticeable difference in sound quality vs Apple Music, but yeah the mix ain’t perfect- but I still think it is good. It doesn’t drag it way down and make it unlistenable. I notice the mix works for some songs better than others. Pyramids of Salt sounds better than Kyoto to me, maybe because Kyoto has more of those darker, heavier chords that make it harder to hear all the distinguishing parts.

    Still absolutely loving this thing.

The wonder years were incredible last night, as every other time I’ve seen them. The new songs sounded amazing live. Pyramids of salt especially.

I was disappointed with them last night. I prefer TWY live to be a energetic and high intensity performance but it just didnt flow at all. I dont like them acoustic at all live

I will say Friday cemented my dislike of It Must Get Lonely. Feels totally out of place to me on the record, and was the same in the set. Totally took the energy out of the room.

Pyramids is the perfect set opener though. Rest of the set was fine enough too.

I think It Must Get Lonely is decent, but agree it sounds out of place on the record. I hope of the many paths they could go down, they don't go down that one

I wasn't particularly into It Must Get Lonely when I first heard the record (it may have been my least favorite). But I've completely turned around on it and now really love the song. I would imagine it must seem quite strange being placed between two high energy songs like Thanks For The Ride and Cul-de-sac, though

Interesting, It Must Get Lonely was the immediate highlight for me and the rest took a bit of time to really sink in

What's the stages time at the moment with the new UK tour line up?

Allison Weiss was on at like 7pm in Glasgow and wonder years were probably around 8 for acoustic set I think

  19. I'm both glad and sad to see that people are finally agreeing with me about the mix quality. Also, I feel like I have to stand up for "It Must Get Lonely" because that's one of my favourite songs on the record!

This is basically how I feel. I don't dislike the song per se (though I do feel it's one of the weaker on the record) but following Kyoto and Pyramids then before Sister Cities, it just doesn't feel like it fits.

It was a little later in Manchester. 7:30 for AW, 8:45 for acoustic, 9:30 for main set, I think.

  22. I wonder if they'll play Hostels and Brothels tonight?

I think it works leading into the title track, but the first two songs are way darker and then that riff comes in and it’s a bit jarring

Yeah, I remember when I first heard that opening riff, I was just thinking "Well, I didn't expect that coming from this album."
