We sadly don't have much to talk about until these Vegas shows and other tour dates come up.

I like both Neighborhoods and California.

They aren’t going to be the albums I first think about when I talk about blink-182, but they were enjoyable to me. blink was the band that defined my growing up and the tastes of music I came to love, but these albums came after I grew into my own and weren’t needed to help define who I was anymore. I was still able to enjoy them, despite the major flaws for each.

The writing on Neighborhoods is miles better than California. The thing I will give Tom in retrospect is forcing Mark to match his tone with the lyrical direction on that album for the sake of of cohesiveness. It would have been even more weird for Mark to be writing radio pop-punk songs and Tom to be writing the songs he did for that record. Even in it's cringiest moments there are at least a dozen lyrical gems on Neighborhoods, where as in my opinion on California there's just a bit of Cynical and San Diego that strike a real chord for me. Considering those are 2 of the 3 more truly personal songs on the album for Mark, it's apparent where his strengths lay when writing. I really do hope they take their time with the next album, if dumping Feldmann is out of the question, at the very least we can hope for some decent writing.

Hey say what you want to say about Tom but he is very good at writing memorable guitar riffs. That’s the one thing that’s really lacking with California, the guitar parts are really weak.

  11. You could take the best songs from Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs and make a pretty solid album.

You could cut a ton of songs off of California/Deluxe and make a pretty solid album.

And honestly, I’d most likely end up thinking the Neighborhoods/DED album is much better.

Dogs Eating Dogs is a pretty good EP. First few songs are great then it nose dives

Pretty Little Girl is great aside from that bridge.

  15. Yup. The first three songs are great.

It’s so interesting to me that people love Pretty Little Girl so much. With the bridge or not, it’s a dumb song. Haha

Id like it a lot more without the Yelawolf bridge. But yeah, its still weaker than the first three songs on the EP.

That being said, I still love every song on the EP...and on Neighborhoods...and on California..and the deluxe. Yes I am a misguided fanboy. But I enjoy it, so I see no problem with it lol

So interesting to me how divisive people are on Pretty Little Girl. I personally think its one of the 3 best post 2005 Blink songs (along with After Midnight and Bored to Death).

    I think what you're suggesting

    Is that

We make a list of what the neighborhood dogs album and California chorus.fm cut should be.

Not that I want us to make lists in this thread or anything.

You’re not alone buddy. I may crap on Neighborhoods sometimes but I still dig several songs on it. Plus I’ll never forget how exciting that era was, which gives the album a few extra points in my book. I’m still loving Cali as well.

Interview from last month with Eric Melvin of NOFX: NOFX Guitarist Eric Melvin On Fatherhood, Blink-182 & Soundwave Festival's AJ Maddah

MF: Well speaking of money, I read somewhere you guys turned down $1 million to tour in support of Blink-182?

EM: Oh that’s a funny story.

Sarah: We’re friends with them now. I really like Tom’s wife Jen, she’s like my special friend, she’s rad.

EM: I mean we were good friends with them even then, at the time. We talked again recently, but it was about craft beer festivals that are only on weekends. We as a band decided that we wanted to keep doing shows but we don’t want to go out for like two or three or four week tours anymore, we’d rather do two or three day weekends, like do two or three nights in a row then that’s it, go home for the week, see if we could do that in the spring… we’d be able to tour like that, I could tour like that, and I kind of got to do it but he’s trying to tell me to talk about setting something up [inaudible] next year there might be a NOFX and a Blink [inaudible] I hoping there’s a massive rumour that makes it happen.

MF: You just said, “There might be a Blink and NOFX,” and then the phone dropped out, so you know, I could totally just run with that.

EM: Right right yeah just run with that yeah. I love that. Don’t forget Tom [inaudible] it’s not! I didn’t say tour either. Or did I? I did say weekend shows.

MF: So we’ll just put it out there that next year there might be a Blink and NOFX “run of shows” and it’ll probably be in America and everyone in Australia will be like, WTF?

EM: Sometime soon there might be a NOFX and Blink [inaudible]. I don’t know how you’re going to print that — “Eric Melvin actually said the words.”
