I've been looking a lot at rentals and am pretty confident in finding a place. I also cannot fathom why someone would willingly live in Lakewood. The prices and homes are virtually the same. It's like you're just paying to not live in Denver.

Lmao, I can definitely see why someone wouldn't want to live in Denver, all other the surrounding suburbs are still really close to it you can be downtown in 20-30 minutes by car or light rail.
It depends on your definition of Denver. I would NEVER live in downtown Denver, it's too congested, there's no grass anywhere really so if you have dogs it's a nightmare, and they really need to come up with a solution with for all the homeless people it's getting pretty bad. You'd also have to pay enormous monthly fees to park your car in a lot. But Denver is huge and it's broken up into many parts that are nice.

Plus a lot of these cities like Lakewood have their own "downtown" area now

 

It definitely has to do with the area I live though. You put my same exact house closer to where I work (I have about a 45 min commute) and the price nearly doubles.

Oh yeah I wouldn't do downtown Denver at all. I've heard about the homeless issue and it sounds like they're trying to work towards a solution. Which is more than I can say about where I'm from haha. Where we have as many homeless (if not more) and our solution is "just put them some place else".

So far the three areas we've looked at the most are Washington Park, Highland Park, and Cheesman Park.

Yeah that’s how it is for me, too. I’m about 30 min south of Downtown driving and my train commute is about 35 min each way.

My exact house was sold a few months ago closer to downtown (north of) for like 890K.

We bought our house for $418K back in early 2014 and it now has an estimated value of 540K so that part is awesome and I’m glad we got in when we did but it’s just nuts how it’s rising with the fever of a bullet train and there is zero sign of it stopping anytime soon.

That's why I moved here from LI. Keep paying $1,500 for a 500 sq ft apartment or pay less than that for a house.
