I think that trade was great for both of us.

Yeah it worked out beautifully, both teams look in great shape after this draft already IMO

At pick 35, the Cleveland Browns select Tim Settle, DT, Virginia Tech

With the Shelton trade, the Browns could use some interior D-line help. With Ogunjobi looking good and Coley/Brantley showing promise, I still took the upper route with the potential of Tim Settle. He legitimately looks like he has the potential of playing each DT technique at the next level. Still, he looks like he could establish himself as 1-technique to step in for Shelton, while adding extra value by staying on as a 3-technique.

    The rivalry is back on

With pick 36, the Colts pick Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville

With pick 37, the Colts pick Isaiah Wynn, OT, Georgia

The Colts’ “best” CB is a second rounder who was in Pagano’s dog house all year and didn’t play much. The Colts’ second “best” CB is a journeyman who they were able to re-sign for under $2 million. This might be the worst position group in the NFL and it needs all the help it can get. Alexander was one of the fastest CBs at the combine and fits the Colts’ plan to get a fast, young core for their defense.

If the Colts’ CBs aren’t the worst position group in the league, then the Colts’ guards might be. Right now, they have an injury prone player signed on a 1-year deal, a journeyman, and the worst graded guard by PFF last year (who coincidentally played every snap for the Colts last year). I think the Colts end up with Nelson at 6 and then take pass rush here, but for the sake of this mock, the Colts are thrilled to see Wynn still on the board at 37.

Hopefully we get to do another one before the draft, trading up was fun and all but I want to pick again.

    *** TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT ***
    Patriots Trade: Picks 43 & 118
    Bears Trade: Pick 39
Round 2, Pick 39 - New England Selects Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA
    [IMG]
After adding depth to the Pass Rush and the Linebacking corps, the Patriots address another big need on the offensive line. After losing Solder to the Giants, and not being able to depend on Garcia, the Patriots need to invest some serious resources on the line to protect their 40 year old quarterback.

My QB of the future was already gone, so it became apparent that the new goal had to be keeping this one alive.

Pittsburgh selects Malik Jefferson - LB - Texas

With 4 LBs going in the first round, I wanted to drop down a bit to get a little bit more value out of my targeting of Jefferson. Obviously, with the near-death of Shazier, LB is a major need on the team. I personally don't expect Shazier to ever return, unfortunately. Currently Vince Williams, Jon Bostic, and Tyler Matakavich round out our LB core. Matakavich is a solid special teamer, and Bostic is a stop-gap (until he gets injured) at best. I also love Vince Williams, but also think he can be upgraded down the road as well.
This is not a pick to replace Shazier, since that's really not possible, but to find a player to who can do the job, and Jefferson should be able to do his job next to Vince Williams.

At pick 41, the Oakland Raiders select Carlton Davis, CB, Auburn

The Raiders lost pretty much all of their CB talent in the offseason. They signed Melvin for one year, but they need some long-term help to pair with Conley. With Guenther in at DC, I'd expect them to go more man coverage. With Davis, you're talking a great talent in that facet of the game and he could turn into a go-to corner if they develop him well in the new system.
