I can't help but want another album of like 80 % screaming from Spencer when I hear that "don't make me swallow my tongue," breakdown in 'Loneliness.' That shit sounds amazing. The production/mixing on his unclean vocals on this record are insane.

Yeah, Squire really hit it out of the park with the production.

The production is really good besides where the guitars are sitting in the mix. Wish they cut through more

Yeah, I feel that way too. On the documentary they play some of the instrumentals and you can hear the guitars a lot better

Lurking AP since 2005. Lurking Chorus since 2016.

I made this exact statement to a friend this morning. Down to the full number score thing. Haha.

Hold Your Breath still rips so hard.

I could never get kingdom leaks to work for the bonus tracks, really anxious to hear Loneliness.

i don’t think “another life” is *that* good but fair about “loneliness”

  8. I’m pretty sure that the vocal melody at the end of the chorus actually is in a Used song, maybe from their second album.

  9. it's better than wake me or rapture IMO

This is all Ive been listening to...not sure if I like it yet.

Hold your breath sounds more like a Thrice song everytime I hear it

I'm almost embarrassed over how much I enjoy this album haha. Like i totally get why people don't like it but I just get way too much joy listening to consider it a disappointment.

While I cannot listen to Rapture and Wake Up through a normal listen, I would be damned if I said they do not mix well with my gym activities.

I may try to revisit the album as a whole in a few months and see if it clicks with me better. Right now I would place it above their first two albums but below the other five.

    Sorry if it's been answered:

I feel like the explanation for no James and Grant wasn't necessarily clear from the Doc to me. Anyone explain?

Yeah, it was cool to see how challenging it was for them to sit down and try to write more structured songs haha. It was also cool to see how excited they got when they heard parts of songs come to life. Just pure happiness from their faces haha. The documentary is definitely worth checking out. Brings a whole new appreciation/perspective to the album.

How did the doc explain it? Haven’t gotten a chance to watch yet

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

From how I understood it, Aaron and Chris allude to the invitation not having been extended to James and Grant for studio time, because they weren't an essential part of that creative process in the past. Aaron then continues, to say (lightly paraphrased), "if I were in Grant's shoes, I would have quit the band. It really says something about Grant's character for sticking around."
