I think I'm of the weird opinion that they get better with every album so I definitely agree with this being their best. At first I was kinda bummed it was only 11 tracks but its 11 of the best TWY songs so I cant really complain at all.

Evetts produced/engineered Suburbia, TGG, and NCTH. Evetts mixed Suburbia. Mark Trombino mixed TGG. Phil Nicolo mixed NCTH. I wanted Ken Andrews to mix NCTH, but we couldn't afford him. The test mix we got from Phil on the previous record had a bit of that vibe so we went with him. If we had more time we probably could've made it happen, but we didn't have that time.

Mixing can determine so much more about how a record sounds than production. Like the tones are there from the producer, but how they sit and operate together is entirely on the mix.

At the end? EQD Bit Commander into a Hotcake or a RAT with some delay. Joe made a rule that I wasn't allowed to use it after we got halfway through and I still wanted it on every song.

Is that you on keys during the bridge of Ghosts of Right Now? I can't tell if it is keys or guitar, but either way I am loving it. Just a slight touch of an MCR vibe.

I overdubbed some rippin' organ over that bridge. My guitar part is a harmony to the rhythm part that evolves to really fast picked octaves when Casey start's playing the melodic lead bit. I think it's panned to the right in the bridge.

The book really is great quality, I'm a sucker for this kind of packaging. Question though, did yours come with a download card? My girlfriend just bought the book and it advertised a download card that I was gonna take off her hands but we can't find one anywhere in the packaging.

  8. Really hoping they have the book out on tour. I want to buy it but I’d rather not drop $10 on shipping.

The new album is really great!
The only thing that could have done better - mixing of the record. I was listing to the record on Spotify...and I got the impression that the quality was 128kbps.

I mean, doesn’t Spotify literally stream at 128kpbs? 192 if you turn on high quality?

EDIT: Google tells me it’s 160/320. Not sure how high the better quality in mobile is though.

Damn this book is awesome. Looking through while listening was definitely my most enjoyable listen of the album

Glad I’m not the only one who prefers NCTH to most of their other stuff. You in January, Stained Glass, Cigarettes, and Thanks for the Ride, are all better than the majority of this record to me. Just my opinion though, I’m still enjoying this record!

I like TGG, but a lot of the lyrics in there make me feel like they were trying too hard to tie in “old-timey” stuff. In reality they could have just written those same songs without the references, and it would have resonated just as well. Again, still a good record though!

It does not have a card, however I got an email from MerchNow with a download of the record.

Sister Cities beats TGG for me (and I love that album as well). I do feel that SC is a more cohesive effort than NCTH, but the sum of what NCTH brought to the table is what keeps me listening to it. Plus, I love the imagery of that album.

But Sister Cities will be on in my car stereo and in the house for at least the next two months... I reserve the right to change my opinion (though that's unlikely).

Sat down with lyrics and yep now I’m in love with this. TGG is still my favorite for now, but this is their best record.

It is definitely more cohesive, but the songs are all fairly similar to each other. When I was listening I had to keep checking to see if the song had changed haha. I will also be listening to it for a little while. I don’t hate the album or anything, NCTH just grabbed me a lot more. Very glad that others are loving it, and that the band is having some success
