Mark Hoppus just posted an Instagram story of him flicking through the vinyl book. Very jealous, but great publicity for the band.

I love this band so much and Sister Cities is great. That said, what is it about NCTH that makes it so hard to listen to? The lyrics, the melodies, and the songs themselves are all good. I don't know much about production, but it just sounds muffled. Wasn't it produced by the same guy who did TGG? That album sounds fantastic.

What’s with the lack of love for Heaven’s Gate? The chorus is incredibly catchy, and the second verse is a colossal gut punch. I thought the production decision to have vocals sit back a bit during the verses is perfect given how intense the delivery is. I wish the same would have been done on The Bluest Things on Earth after hearing Heaven’s Gate.

I love the way the drums sound on this album. They're nice and big and boomy

This is easily my AOTY so far, and is honestly everything I wanted from this band for a long time. Their other albums still mean a lot to me, but when I want to listen to TWY now it's gonna be this album like 90% of the time... until the next one that is.

Really happy that I got the book. Wish I could actually read Soupy's handwriting on the journal entries though lol.

It's so sweeping and that guitar in the chorus. You know the one. Gaahhh it's too good.

It is hard to explain how the last chorus of that song makes me feel. I get this instant feeling of relief, like a massive weight has been lifted.

My itunes player is set on "repeat artist" so when The Ocean Grew Hands to Hold Me ends I get the first notes of My Last Semester and Dan's squeaky ass voice. How far they have come. (and yes, I have WBPF as part of Sleeping On Trash)

Was never a big fan of this band until the new singles stated drooping, can't get enough of this record. It's by miles their best, right? Having a tonne of fun with it. Should probably make an effort to go back through their discog.

I think saying that it's their best is probably a tad premature, a bit soon. It's obviously very subjective, and people are very hyped on the idea of new Wonder Years, especially as it is following what some feel was a sub-par record. For me, it's maybe 3rd best. Give me a bit more time with it and maybe rises to 2nd, I don't know.

Seeing them in Manchester on Friday and I can't fucking wait. Intrigued about what their set will look like. It's my first time seeing them, so hope there's a good mix. Really looking forward to hearing Kyote live too.

I think it's definitely their best. Whether or not it's my favourite will be up for debate for a while.

I mean, I did caveat that by saying it's very obviously a matter of personal opinion. So if it's your favourite already, more power to you. I guess I ignored the difference between "best" (songwriting etc.) and "favourite" (liking the songs the most).

I don't really want to start shitting on people's opinions, since there are a few songs which I am not so hot on, so I'll stay quiet haha.

  23. The old albums are very important to me and it’s hard to put this up against the likes of TGG for that reason, but there’s no doubt in my mind that, at the very least, this is the same kind of huge leap forward in sound for them that The Upsides and TGG were when they released. Part of what’s so much fun about following TWY is how they always get better with each release, and the fact that they’re still doing it 8 years after their first “moment” record just proves how far ahead of their peers they have always been.

It doesn't beat NCTH for me. But it gets damn close.

I would call it their best. Just not my personal favorite in the discography.

same. i just took the WBPF songs, When Keepin It Real Goes Wrong, the Distances EP, and the b-sides from all the albums and put them in with the Sleeping On Trash tracklist just because I like to have all of the non-album tracks in one convenient spot for bands I love.
