this book that came with the vinyl is awesome. Heavy duty and a lot of cool stuff. Haven’t had much time to sift through it too much yet.

Just to elaborate for some other people who couldn’t hear it. Apparently they both came up with the name Heavens Gate separate from each other. They were in the same studio as Andy Hurley who was recording drums. Andy asked if they could come in and help do percussion with him.

Is the name derived from the suicide cult named Heavens Gate?

I think I've completely come around on Heaven's Gate and It Must Get Lonely. Really enjoying both of those songs now and they were my least favorites when I first heard the album. Right now, Orange Grove is the only song that I'm not fully on board with. Just doesn't really fit as well on this album as I would like it to, in my opinion.

Also, Raining In Kyoto may be my favorite song that they've ever done. Such an incredible song, both musically and lyrically.

  8. Listening to the end of this record while sitting on the 35th St pier, looking out at the East River as the water catches the the sunset, I think I’ve solidified this album as my favorite TWY album

I have had "IT MUST GET OBVIOUS ENOUGH THAT I'M NOT EVER GONNA CHAAANGE" stuck in my head on repeat all day. Fucking love it.

also wasn't immediately sold on Orange Grove, but I'm really latching on to its immaculate guitar work.

I’ll thrown my ass in a circle to Heavens Gate and will not feel a modicum of regret

Listening to this on Spotify and I think his vocals sound softer than the rest of the mix. Not really dig the mix as a whole to be honest but it’s just my personal opinion.

It’s at the eastern end of Girard Ave right on the entrance to 95. Literally saw it by coincidence on my ride home from the pop up shop

I love the second verse when Soupy's voice comes into focus and sings "UNTIL THE OXYGEN'S GONE". The hook is an earworm too!

i like that all their albums have a "thing" that functions as a loose framework for the album, i like that this one uses the sun, moon, and the ocean as the strings to tie all of the songs together. i also like that the "everywhere at once" lyric is used a few times as a loose connector, kinda like "we're no saviors/walking in circles" was on NCTH.

i just really love this band and im really happy that this is getting such acclaim. @Drew Beringer your review was great!

So the book is ridiculously good. I was on the fence about buying it. The reversible cover is awesome. The quality is impeccable. Well worth $60.

I thought it would just be chronological to the songs but it is all kind of scrambled. There is a diary entry and pictures from Kyoto. The picture of Soupy lighting the candle in the rain is just unreal and it makes the song so real. Props to their photographer who really ran with this concept. His imagery is remarkable.

When they started The Lonliest Place on Earth I had no idea how they would pull off the art collective vibe they were going for but this album roll out showed that they are so capable of going beyond 12 songs on an album.

I hope down the line they sign some bands and take this approach to putting out some really neat stuff into the world.

Bottom line, if you were on the fence, buy the book.
