The new Caretaker is a major tonal shift from the previous releases in this series. This one completely immerses itself in the chaos of dementia. Very discordant and sinister, yet beautiful.

i forgot how intriguing everywhere at the end of time is. it's an album that warrants some discussion. i don't think i've even listened to the entire first three volumes even though i've been following the project since the beginning but i just got to the 19th track (which is around where i stopped the last few times, too) and i plan on finishing the rest over the next couple of days.

some psychedelic-collage-ambient-pop for your ears. beautiful and weird stuff - meticulously arranged compositions yet they feel organic, as if naturally occurring.

it's excellent and it sounds like music from the future

ok yeah volume four of everywhere at the end of time is crazy. while i'm sure it'd be fine on its own, it really only makes complete sense in context of the series. love that.

It's not on Apple Music, either, so I feel your pain. Streaming from Bandcamp isn't the worst unless you're on mobile, in which case it can be a little frustrating.

It's a fascinating series whose execution has been thoroughly, intriguingly, excellent. I don't know how often I'll return to it (it's long, and it feels long), but it's certainly novel. This newest volume is extremely rewarding. In spite of its concept, which is wholly reflected in all volumes thus far released, I don't find the music harrowing, or even scary. It merely is. Always nostalgic, often sad, sometimes beautiful, sometimes ugly. This newest volume, while on its surface should be scary, abrasive, I find more empathetic and in search of understanding than anything.

I think you nailed it with your description that it makes you feel empathy for the character’s deterioration. I think that's the direction Kirby wanted to go in-- allow for nostalgia and beauty to permeate the surface, but to really accentuate the downward fall from being immersed in your own life to becoming a bystander to your memories, attempting to retrieve fragments far-too-broken to put back together (or even make coherent sense of).

Will check out later today for sure. Right now I'm checking an old Caretaker release. I've only heard his recent stuff and An empty bliss beyond this world, so the back-end of his discography is all new and incredible to me.
