I didn't consider it in that way, that makes sense though.

I'd be cool with Elba. First choice would be Tom Hardy but he's my first choice for pretty much any good role.

Enjoyed Craig in the role quite a bit, but will still be exciting times leading up to the casting of the next Bond.

I adore Daniel Craig's bond. I'm gonna miss seeing him in the role. To me, Casino Royale is peak Bond.

As for the next guy, I'd love to see Elba or Fassbender personally. Both could really pull off the role, I think.

I do have a question here, and I'm not trying to be inflammatory. What's your reasoning behind seeing (or being okay with, I suppose) a female James Bond? I'd genuinely like to hear it.

For me, I'm all for POC landing traditionally white roles. If the actor can perform the part, they deserve the part. Obviously POC are under represented in media and this SHOULD be happening - it's fair, and is a positive thing.

Maybe it's a poor thought in me I need to check, but I don't feel the same way about a woman stepping into a role like James Bond. I don't care much about how Bond looks, as long as he is suave, can portray pain, and looks like he can win a fist fight, but to change his gender? I don't know... Where I see a POC in that role as progressive, I see putting a woman in that role actually as being regressive. It feels like a cop out to writing a good female role and just shoehorning something in. I mean, would her name be Jamie Bond? That feels like a step back for women, to me.

Again, I'm genuinely interested in hearing your (and everyone else's) thoughts here.

EDIT: I should note that I realize your original post is not necessarily advocating for a female Bond.

I'll start backwards: I like the name James for a girl. I actually think Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's daughter is named James. I see no problem with the name not changing.

My reasoning is simple: I don't give a flying fuck what the gender of Bond is. I don't think it's relevant to a good story or the character. I don't think the sex, race, nationality, or sexuality of a fictional character matters just because it was one way first and I don't think it's an important characteristic to define 007 by. I started thinking about it because of something Daniel Craig said:

I would argue you can write good female rolls and James Bond could be female in a movie. They're not mutually exclusive. I can't see any reason why that would be a "step back."

Fingers crossed for Idris Elba! I think he would do a wicked job, plus, he's just as hot as Daniel Craig!

I've seen several of Daniel Craig's non James Bond movies and a lot of them are bad and he is bad/boring in them. He should probably ride the 007 train for as long as possible.
