That's kind of the beauty of TWY. Their discography is diverse enough that people are constantly arguing about their album rankings and which is their favorite--something for everyone, if you will. And hey, maybe it'll grow on you.

So for anyone that pre-ordered from MerchNow, the maroon T-shirt is REALLY nice. I expected a typical Gildan T-shirt but it’s actually really soft, feels like something you’d get at like American Eagle or one of those types of stores.

 

Yeah, I am very impressed with the maroon shirt also. But I still want that ocean t-shirt that sold-out from the official TWY shop.

Yeah, for sure. I understand why people are falling in love with this but the production really kneecaps it for me. I also just miss the catchiness, the conceptual arcs and the lyrical callbacks, as much as that's apparently a hot take these days, those were the things that made me fall in love with the band in the first place.

 

I find it really hard to understand Soupy on this record

 

If you don't like the album, that is totally your prerogative and you are obviously allowed to not like it and move on, but I really encourage the people who have a big attachment to their older stuff to keep listening. It took me a few listens to let the whole thing click with me, but it clicked in a big way. There is just as much as the last album to unpack even if their aren't any exact lyrical refrain callbacks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna keep listening and trying to digest for a long time. I love this band and will always give them as many chances as possible. I think the insane levels of hype for this one just really got to me and the sting of disappointment on first listen was... pretty strong.
