Yes it's now called Holyfield and they have outside parties interested in potentially doing business.

I really clashed with one of the guys they brought in to be a prominent member, and also after the first 6 months or so wasn't as active writing articles. Meanwhile they were bringing in people who actually were taking it seriously and spending 20 hours a week or so researching and writing (Matt included, who I added to Couch Coaches originally myself).

It's weird how Holyfield actually might become the legitimate online publication I hoped it would.... but only after I decided I wasn't a good fit for the direction it was heading.

 

Randall, you didn't even mention the jags in that post

 

If anything I really wish I could have kept doing my Upon Further Review articles. Including clips of coaches film made it really interesting and indepth. I was gonna study and break down the first 3 seasons of the top QBs of every draft.

But you cant legally use NFL footage like that if you're going to start trying to make money from it. A license to use NFL footage for any reason other than highlights or parody is highly expensive and hard to get.

Looking through the threads to find the Randall v CarpetElf record has taught me two things:

Eh, they've changed it like 10 times. I have no ill will or spite toward them, if they succeed props to them. It just quickly snowballed into something that felt like work without pay, which was taking time away from my actual passion of music since I also needed to work a day job.

I liked writing opinion pieces, but I didn't watch nearly enough college ball to be a good draft writer, I didn't use or double check nearly enough stats to sound factual, I was too hung up on using emotive language to sound unbiased. How I started off writing for Couch Coaches was far from what would be expected of a Holyfield writer if they got that kind of plug.

 

It's okay to say their site layout is garbage
