Rey being a nobody >>>>> her having a “relevant lineage”

I’m hoping Abrams is able to alter her being from nobody if his plan was better.

I'm personally not even interested in rey's lineage anymore, I thought TLJ handled it perfectly and we can move on. But, you know, that's just my opinion man.

I wouldn’t care for time to be taken out of episode IX to explain her lineage. If time is taken out then it’s probably relevant and will be predictable. I’m more interested in what her future holds and how it will affect the next generation.

Life got so crazy the last 4 months that I never even got a chance to see this. Pretty impressed that I've been able to avoid all spoilers. Tonight I'm gonna rent it on VOD and see if it's really as shitty as all my friends have made it sound.

Imagine the highs of episode 7 and lows of episode 2. That’s episode 8.

    So assuming that this weekend...

This might be the most straightforward, accurate description of TLJ I've read. Although I believe that TLJ isn't nearly as bad as episode 2, what you said is definitely super accurate.

  12. Could not disagree more with that description. It gets higher than 7 and never gets anywhere close to as bad as 2.

I'd say the highs of Empire and the lows of Jedi.

  14. What the hell would be as bad as 2 in this?

I think it has the highs of TLJ and the (relative handful of) lows of TLJ

  16. Ep 8 challenged my perception of what Star Wars can and can't be while simultaneously reaffirming my love of the franchise. It's the best-looking and most intriguing entry. It expanded and elevated the saga, for me anyway.

Just picturing Rey talking about how coarse the sand on Jakku was and how much she hated it.

Even if the casino scene is regarded as the worst about this movie, it never sinks as low as the best parts of attack of the clones.

Canto bight / the lows of TLJ > Anything in AOTC. The only better parts in the prequels is the maul fight and a few moments of ROTS.

As for why i’m a little scared of 9, I’m afraid JJ might “give the people what they want” too much as a reaction to the TLJ outrage. Hope he doesn’t give in to that temptation.

I would watch the Obi-Wan vs Jango scene over the casino scene. Whatever floats your boat though.

Unless what the people wanted is what he wanted and then episode IX will just be what he wants regardless of the backlash of VIII. I feel like Abrams is more comfortable in the traditional Star Wars formula than Johnson and that he’ll continue to do so.

  25. And it's barely 10 minutes. People overstate how long that scene is.
