Chaser absolutely slays every time I put it on. One of their best songs IMO.

 

Ghosts of right now is the only one that's not doing it for me as much as the rest is, but I bet it's a grower. Love Orange Grove, it's so urgent and catchy. Gasped a few times when I first heard it. Definitely the closest to NCTH/TGG on the record.

Oh and Dan's vocals are so fucking stellar on the whole album.

 

Chaser and Cul-de-sac are top tier. I used to love Madelyn but I don't like it anymore. American Religion and Raindance are both solid and Funeral is maybe their best song

So back half of TGG is not weak!

 

Although I think this is definitely their best work yet it's so hard to tell if I will like it better than TGG and suburbia, but again, I've had time to grow with TGG and suburbia. I guess I didn't care for TGG all that much 3 years ago. I'll probably need that time to know if Sister Cities tops it for me

 

This is in such a different ballpark from the older stuff and TGG/Suburbia/Upsides all mean so much to me that it’s really hard to rank them against each other for me.

 

The first 1:00minute vocal is fire. Love that song.

 

TGG will probably always be my sentimental #1 based on the time during my life it came out.

But this is objectively better in everyway

 

Yeah that record hit me right as I was graduating high school. Means the world to me that I had that album and all the experiences around it at that time (pop up shop, record release show, etc)
What a great time.

 

Sonically this record absolutely rips. All sorts of sounds; i love it.

 

TGG is so far still my #1 and it’s the one I go back to the most but man is this new one great.

 

this album is coming out at a pretty pivotal point in my life and its just what i need right now tbh

 

Always forgetting how much I love The Greatest Generation. Can't wait to listen to this when I get to a computer, which I remember saying about TGG also lol.

 

Dan is such a good vocalist

 

I have the biggest grin at work right now. This is the album i wanted after TGG.

I haven't kept tabs on "Sister Cities" Twitter, but if you ask me, this album is a massive statement from a band that deserves more attention.

not to pick on you, as there have been loads of these, but don't like all these comparisons to other things. I don't want it to sound like a load of other bands or I'd go and listen to them instead

 

its nothing but a compliment to compare them to extremely good bands. music doesnt exist in a vacuum, everything sounds like something and we all have our own reference points and its fun to discuss those.

 

the two things me and ian cohen have in common are blocking evan on twitter and male pattern baldness

 

So I got my download code this morning, woke up early before work to download it aaaaaaaaaaaaand We Look Like Lightning and The Ghosts of Right Now refuse to download, due to the link being "expired". Anyone else had any issues?
