Wait. Hold on a second. I've never listened to a full Wonder Years record, so please excuse my ignorance.

Are you saying that song is on the level of/comparable to War All the Time?! If you're saying that, my hype for this record is through the roof

There was a poem read in different languages on the b-side of the We Look Like Lightning 7". This is the transcription in English.

Yeah, instrumentally I'm getting a ton of Thursday vibes. The instrumental section during Kyoto screams No Devolucion to me

Holy fuck. What band am I mixing The Wonder Years up with? I thought they were a pop-punk band

When? Is this their first record like this or do I have some catching up to do?

NCTH kind of switched styles but not as much as this, i would just listen to this as i dont like anything besides subrubia which was their last good album imo, but a lot of people do love the greatest generation and no closer to heaven they just dont do it for me, but this one blew me away

  9. No Closer to Heaven says hello, but even then there are traces of it in there. None on this. There's been progressively less of it since they switched things up on Suburbia.

soupy's vocals in the hook of pyramids of salt are so perfect. its got that dramatic inflection but it feels extremely sincere

I could see it possibly becoming my favourite but there's 3 other albums that I've LOVED this year so idk yet

  14. I think it’s the only song on here that wouldn’t feel horribly out of place on TGG, and it would have worked on NCTH as well. It’s definitely the closest this record gets to pop punk.

i think its a less interesting take on what the title track does so yeah basically what you said too haha

  16. Heaven's Gate has really been the grower here for me. It didn't do much for me on my first listen but now it's one of my favorite tracks.

Honestly this album is a grower. I like it a lot more each time I hear it.

Yeah I mean this instantly shoots into my #1 spot for the year, which is saying a lot because it's leapfrogging Republic of Wolves/Pianos/Teenage Wrist. And I don't know what could possibly dislodge it. Maybe if that Early November record is as good as I hope it is, but even then I don't know. This is on an entirely different level from everything else.

At some point in time ... Raining in Kyoto should be the upcoming show opener .. that song gets the party started right IMO.

  20. This, Jeff Rosenstock, and Brian Fallon are prob my top 3. Animal Flag, Tiny Moving Parts, and Fall Out Boy also up there. Fully expecting Kississippi to be amazing based on the two singles.

Courtney Barnett will dislodge this for me, pretty easily. But on first listen this is top for me at the minute. The Fall Out Boy record is a close second mind.

fall out boy, mammoth grinder, republic of wolves, hooded menace, and this leading the way for me. the 1975 and thrice will almost certainly wind up as my 1 and 2 unless one of them makes a massive misstep
