i personally only listen to music recorded directly to tape on 2 synced up 24-track studers through $100k atc mains

    basically unlistenable otherwise

A bit off-topic from the relentless sarcasm here, but I'm on my first listen and holy shit The Ghosts of Right Now.

"the image of a solitary row house in Barcelona after the others around it had been demolished suddenly brought the phrase ‘It Must Get Lonely’ to mind, which inspired the song of the same name and caused Dan to draw parallels with people in his life that he felt could relate to feeling deserted"

I like this as I live in Barcelona and would have been at this show

Also the Independent is a curious choice of place to stream it. As an English journalist quite interested in how that came about!

it is funny watching people get so bent out of shape over production these days. i remember the first time listening to rufio’s still just freaking out about how much that dude shredded on bass and then continuing to never think about the production ever. imagine listening to cheshire cat and not commenting on how it sounded... we had it so easy.

.:*~random thoughts with nick as he sits in a starbucks in NYC whole it pours rain~*:.

Ya I don't get production debates either. I'm no audiophile but I'll never get it, I guess. NCTH sounded just fine to me but this site went into nuclear meltdown. As long as it's not like, a radio rip It works for me

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Flowers Where Your Face Should Be is my favorite after a few listens.

Absolutely love this album, and it probably will end up being my favorite TWY album.

The real question is, do I wait to listen to this until my pre-order w/the book arrives?

i want to finish up my little thesis on this album so i can add it with my other big post but until i know a few more specifics im afraid to post anything half-assed. im still not sure who it is thats sick with a debilitating disease (which i presume is cancer) and theres a couple of other things i need to just read over and look into.

but this is the bands best album imo and listening to it a bunch more times sounds like a treat to me so im excited to dive even further. that interview that was posted along wth the stream shined some light on some things but theres still a lot to unpack

  18. Speaking honestly (and trying to not sound like an ass) - at least the leak I have access to is getting in my way of just sitting down and enjoying the tracks in that way. I found an EQ that levels it out nicer for me, but I'm still having trouble getting around it. It's not like I prefer to be so picky, haha. TWY has been my undisputed favourite band since The Upsides. I'm glad everyone else is not hearing what I'm hearing and who knows, maybe I'll get the 320kbps and say I was wrong but it's what I'm feeling right now.

Still thinking this record has the strongest songwriting of your discography though, and I can't believe I'm saying that after how much I loved TGG (and every other record too, but TGG was my favourite before this). You guys just keep growing as songwriters and it's so great to hear. Can't wait to hear all of these songs live! I've caught myself humming parts from pretty much every song at this point.

Production is a case by case thing for me, if it's punk or black metal I have lower expectations.

Very rarely would I say production completely ruins an album for me (The Blackest Beautiful I'm looking at you)

  20. I've gotten to the point where I've accepted the mix on that record (because damn those songs are incredible) but it was a process let me tell you

  21. Aaaaaaanyways I'll shut up about production now so we can get back to talking about how great this record is.
