Pageant Material was good but I didn't spend too much time with it. I'm happy everyone is in love with this, excited to check it out today

I tried to get into her older material and just couldn't do it. This album is her best by far. Really good.

All of her albums are fantastic, though I do agree this is her best.

I think I like the last one a hair more, but it's only been out a week.

tore myself away from TWY long enough to listen to this and she does it again, this album is a knockout on first listen.

I'm not ready to choose favorites, I honestly love them all for slightly different reasons. She is really becoming one of my favorites.

This was my first introduction to Kacey Musgraves and the only album I listened to this past weekend. Everything about the songs from lyrics to production to music are absolutely stunning.

Does “Rainbow” sound terrible on the vinyl for anyone else, or is it just me?

Although mine was chipped I’ve spun it a few times. I think it sounds pretty great all the way through.

Looking like first week sales will hit around 40k. Likely a top 10 debut on the Billboard 200, but I'm not quite sure what position. Pretty solid!

Would you guys call this a true country album? I usually can't stand country but love this for some reason. I would almost call this record emo haha.

It is absolutely a country album.

Probably depends on what you're talking about when you say "true country"? I'm guessing you mean old school classic country, in which case no I don't think this really sounds like that but I'd absolutely call it a true modern country album. If you dig this you should pop over into the country thread. There's a bunch of new country artists I think everyone would like, even people who don't think they're fans of country.

Pretty sure Marty Stuart is "true country" by anyone's standards and Way Out West sounds a lot like this at points, so...

    what a waste of wood

I'd consider this more of a singer-songwriter album but then again who gives a shit?

Yeah I know what you mean. All I meant was for the people who hear the word country and immediately think of someone like Jason Aldean or Blake Shelton or whoever, this doesn't really sound like a "country" album. But in my opinion that country sucks ass but I love what Kacey and some other people are doing.
