Someone tweeted that "Loneliness," is an intense track

the heavy bridge before the last chorus in ihateit was my favorite part of the album so far. spencers screams are as intense as ever and he sounds incredible in his screaming but it seems to be used much more sparingly and some of his cleans just arent doing it for me.

Just got an email from merchnow that the black and white variants of the vinyl had a production issue and have been delayed until the end of April. Bummer :(

Merchnow is horrible, I preordered a splatter color variant of DGD's self titled when they repressed them last year, and it took merchnow 3 months to tell me that they had to cancel my preorder because they were out of stock.

Yeah I got the acid green vinyl (doesn't come with loneliness) and it shipped already, should be here tomorrow.

    alright some first listen thoughts:

-this is far from the disaster i was anticipating after the singles. i do not like those songs but aside from wake me they are definitely the weakest songs on here.
-ridiculously back heavy album, didnt feel like things really started to pick up until bloodlust
-spencer seems to be THE frontman despite aaron rejoining, which is good and aaron fills the role of more of a backing vocalist very well, but spencer's melodies are pretty weak a lot of the time, his cleans are mostly good with some spots i really dont like (the part of sink with you where hes like "you cant make it okay" is AWFUL before he starts full on screaming).
-every song has parts that i like but a lot of songs have parts i dont like as well so only a handful of tracks are songs that i completely totally like
-the album is pretty monotonous, some of the hooks start to feel like other hooks we already heard on the album
-the production is great, chris did a bang up job, but i wish tim had more interesting guitar parts. lots of distorted high note riffs but im feeling a real lack of interesting low tuned heavy riffage. most of the low riffs are just standard generic heavy rock riffs, but with really interesting production so they dont feel just like regular heavy rock
-if i hadnt heard the singles i would be massively disappointed in this but since i tempered expectations im surprised, even if i dont totally like it yet

solid 6/10 so far. will be listening a bit more to see if anything grows on me.

oh and as much as i love daniels work on disambiguation, aaron's drumming is top notch and the drum production is ace

and i feel the songwriting is really boring and standard on almost every song. they took some real risks in terms of structure and pace of songs on disambiguation and that seems to be completely abandoned in favor of verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus with little variation

standouts: hold your breath, no frame, i gave up

sorry keep having more thoughts as i let it sink in. this definitely isnt just a sleepwave album i think it would be unfair to say that, this sounds and feels like an underoath album despite being completely new territory for them, im just not sure this style has been executed as well as it could have been by this group of musicians.

@sophos34 I was waiting for your impressions on this thing. I'm hoping they can build on the good parts you highlighted for future releases. Looking forward to hearing it a bit more now.

I’m just not getting the love for no frame like everyone else is.

Also I got an email from MerchNow saying the black deluxe has been delayed until the end of the month (at least).

I think that’s my favorite hook on the album haha, otherwise our thoughts seem to mostly line up on this album.

i think my problem with that hook is that it seemed similar to a lot of the hooks that came before it, on its own its not bad

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

@sophos34 solid criticism and breakdown. You giving Aaron's drumming the nod here is quite unexpected haha.
