    hmmm

This is better than That's The Spirit. It doesn't feel anywhere near as cynical for starters.

This record will grow on me for sure..

.... but there will be a lot of backlash from their fans. This is simply not the same band but how could they be after all these years?

When the chorus to Hold Your Breath hit, I knew I loved this record.

Wow. I have not been in a rock mood for awhile. The only record this year to resonate with me within that genre was TMP’s new one. It’s weird because I shouldn’t like this record. I HATED That’s The Spirit, but this is enthralling. They gained a new fan today. Most diverse, interesting thing they’ve ever put out.

Only track I will have to see if it frowns more on me is Bloodlust. Not bad, but definitely the one weak spot.

  5. After my initial listen, this isn't for me. I won't say it's bad, because I don't think it is, it's just not my style. On My Teeth is the best song, imo. I'm happy they're back and making music again but I won't be revisiting this one.

I guess I'm not too worried now that I think about it because I love the Sleepwave record, and i'm sure that if this is anything like that or better I'll love this too (it already has more screaming than the Sleepwave record which is a good sign haha) Just kinda bummed that the majority of people here seem to not like it I suppose.

lol I love bloodlust, that ending is great & so are the verses. Glad you're enjoying this, I thought it would gain them new fans

I actually think this is worse than the last BMTH album. There was at least a few decent songs on there. I think there was some stuff on there worse than anything here as well though so maybe I'd say they're equal.

The only advice I can give, is to throw out the sounds that you hold in your mind about their past records. Define the Great Line is my favorite record by them (although everything since TOCS Is amazing), but I'm really enjoying this new direction & sound. The band sounds happy, and that's all that really matters, also, they made a mainstream album that most people would say "this sounds like any other mainstream band," but it doesn't...no other "mainstream band," could attempt to make an interesting record like this IMO

Like I said, that one definitely had stuff worse than anything on here but I also like Doomed and Drown more than anything on here.

I liked "Throne" off that but don't remember much of the rest of the album.

Yeah I'd say I like Throne more than anything here too.

That’s the Spirit wishes it could be half as interesting as this. That album is one of the few record to make me physically cringe.

The change in direction isn't the issue. Thrice came back from hiatus and made their most accessible record yet and it's one of their best albums. The problem here is this album is not good. A lot of these songs and lyrics come across as really cheesy, not to mention that most of the songs are very predictable and boring.

That Thrice album is also not very good. Wake Up and Wake Me are both tied for the respective band's worst ever songs, lol

The Bloodlust mixed reception surprises me, tbh. Aaron's part in the chorus is great and the bridge is one of the album's best moments. Would have made a much better second single

  19. That latest Thrice album is not one of their best. Their next will be.

Why didn’t they go with “Hold Your Breath” as the second single??? Missed opportunity for sure.

I've never really checked out Thrice, so I can't speak to that. Idk, I understand it's not as technical as their last albums, but for me it's still incredibly enjoyable & has great songwriting

I'd take a new Thursday over a new Thrice any day but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Anthology/Disarmed was the perfect note for Thrice to go out on and it should've stayed that way

  23. I said this too. It blows my mind.

    They should pay me.

The reception would have been a complete 180 from “Rapture”. If this was Fearless’s call- they fucked up.

I loved TBEITBN. The only songs I thought were not that great were "Wake Up" and "Stay with Me". Everything else was fantastic. Def my favorite since Alchemy Index Vol 1.
