Interesting. To me they just had such a shift in sound that I think of KY and WFL as being very similar because they're both "non screaming" PBTT records. Obviously they're different records but for some reason it's hard for me to imagine liking one and not the other. Personally, this will end up being one of my favorites of the year but Keep You is one of my all time faves.

I think this is a transition record for Pianos but no one is talking about it because it is a bit more subtle than going from screaming to not screaming

Pianos were huge on atmosphere but not as good in the song writing department (yet)

KY relies more on atmosphere while Love is more song based and here their weakness shows a little bit more

they write great hooks but a solid seamless song is still a bit out of reach

my prediction is they will cross that bridge with the next record and they will solidify this new sound

don’t get me wrong, I love the new album, but it does make their weaknesses rather visible to me

    not hating, just an observation

They need to make a shoegaze/dream pop record.

I'll say it again, I'd buy the heck out of an instrumental version of this album

I honestly think Keep You has a lot more memorable hooks than this. I like this but it's fallen off a bit. Don't love it like I love their previous stuff.

Yeah, gonna have to disagree with that. I think Repine is my favorite song from the last 5 years.

Just give me Dry Spells, would make a killer post-rock song.

Lurking AP since 2005. Lurking Chorus since 2016.

Been really trying to get into this record, because I wanted it so bad. Nothing has really stayed with me. It falls pretty flat in comparison to Keep You. It's enjoyable, but I find myself listening to it because I'm trying to like it. I still jam Keep You all the time. Doubt that's gonna change.

manila, love on repeat, blue might end up taking the cake for the best 3 song stretch in their discog tbh.

While this is good, I haven't felt the desire to come back to it much and I'd probably rank it lowest in their discog at this point

yea, I've taken a long break from it. I plan on coming back to it hard before I see them though. I think its a great album for sure tho. I can't wait to hear the new material live

Blue is the only thing that’s really stayed with me. I like the album OK enough but I only crave to hear that song.

I think this album has a lot of good cool/unique/memorable moments but I think the songwriting on KY was noticeably better. Also, I was hoping for more bangers like charisma so this became more of a mood album than I expected it too.

I definitely still love this album, but it certainly has fallen out of my rotation significantly

This thread is making me sad. Still my early AOTY contender and personally like it more than Keep You
