You’re also the 1000th post in this thread. What a way to celebrate!

Does anyone here rock climb? Would you be interested in a separate thread for it? Where should I even add one? Sports? General?

I’d do a separate sports thread. I’ve never rock climbed before outside of fake indoor setups.

I am starting to find my running stride again. Did 10.5 miles yesterday. Did a slow 2 and change warm up somewhere around 8 minute pace. Did 7.5 miles between 6:45-6:50 pace and then did a two mile cool down. Now I just have to get out more consistently. Only been doing about three days a week. Need to ramp that up.

Not currently. Hearing it talked about in here and on Rich Roll's podcast, I have thought about it, but haven't made the plunge. Does it work with the Apple watch?

So, I'm going in Monday for a vasectomy and I'm scared to death. It really took 16 days after??? My doc said I can resume 'normal every day activities' the following day of the procedure but to wait 5 to 7 days to 'resume running or sports.'

Any other advice you can give, just about general recovery? Doc says the procedure itself is a 10-15 minute thing, just in his office. Seemed real casual about the entire thing.

I would think it would differ on the person. The way your body heals is probably different than Glitch. I would think too that if you are already pretty active that it would also help. I would head your doctors advice if you trust him. Keep low until that 5th day and see how you feel. If you aren't feeling up to it, hang back until day 7 and try again. But since you do a lot of basketball with hard cuts, I could see that being trickier than just going out for a run.

I'm actually looking forward to resting my knees/ankles as they've been banged up as of late, so I'll probably give it at least a week before I try any running/sport. I just don't want pain for more than a day or two :(

There is indeed an Apple Watch app for Strava yes. I’m not sure though if you can just use the onboard Apple running activity and upload to Strava. I used the app on the watch for awhile and it was mostly fine.

I’m currently reading “Eat and Run”(Scott Jurek) and I’m really sucked in. Great reading so far. Guy is top teir ultra runner that lives a plant based lifestyle. I sat on the beach in Florida yesterday with this for 6 hours reading, running, and just relaxing(super cool). For months now and even a couple of years I’ve been a lot more conscious over time about what I eat. Getting more serious and cautious as the time goes on. More recently I’ve been trying to stick to whole foods; no processed garbage, cooking more greens, snacking smart, etc..... I’ve also cut down on meat. I’ve been shying away from red meat and even white as well. Black bean burgers are legit.

Anyway, I’m hoping as I dive into this more and learn more what to eat, how to prep better....and if I truly go vegan, plant based, or close to it, that it will improve my running. Maybe it can help my body heal better from injuries.

I’ve been on the plant based vegan kick for a while. I started when I ran my last marathon two years ago. I liked how I felt and recovered so I stuck with it.

(I think my phone auto corrected to Jeremy......)

Yes I have Born to Run as well! I fell behind on reading it because I misplaced it for about a month; until yesterday actually. Def more interested in finishing Eat and Run first right now.

Wife made some sausage cole slaw stuff last night even though she knows my current kick. It looked so good and I caved. And it was good. Everything else though hasn't been meat(i'll eat eggs as of now though). Going to the store later today to buy more plants good stuff.

I have also only done it gyms. I’d love to try outside but I dunno if I’d have the guts.

Definitely going to check this book out. Read Rich Roll’s a few months back and dug it.

I’ve been vegetarian for almost 10 years now and it really changed my life. I don’t preach it to others because I think people get a bit too caught up in other people’s diets. I never knew how many people were concerned about my protein intake.

As long as what you eat works for you in a positive way, go for it. Plant based just forced me to be more conscious and to learn how to cook, so it’s been a good thing.

    Good luck!

So I'm doing the London Marathon on Sunday, my first ever marathon.

All winter I've been training in cold and miserable London weather. On Sunday the forecast is meant to be 24 celsius (75F). I'm not prepared for that at all and suddenly I'm pretty nervous. My target was sub 4:15 but now I just want to get around in one piece.

Start hydrating well now. Also wouldn’t hurt too get some electrolytes in the day before. Crazy how little I need for a half in warm conditions when I do that. Sunscreen helps too with blocking out some of the heat. Oh and maybe find a hat you can run in so you can dump water on your head during the race

I run in 70 degree weather constantly and even in 90 during the summer

Thanks man, just ordered a super lightweight cap (much needed for my balding head I reckon).

Yeah, you definitely weren't kidding with this. I waited a full two weeks to go back to the gym for the first time (this past Monday), and even then I just did some light jogging and workouts just to see what felt OK and what didn't. I didn't have any problems. Finally went back to my normal routine today and felt really good. Hardest thing was comparing recovery times with others who said they ran within a week or played hockey (my brother-in-law) after 7 or 8 days. I couldn't have imagined at that point.

That’s exactly what I dealt with in regards to the recovery comparisons. I’m glad I was cautious. Found out this week that I’m all clear. I’m back to running how I was before and I haven’t had any issues at all.

Hope everyone's running is on the up-and-up. I feel myself inching closer to when I'll be able to get back out there to put some miles in. Mentally I'm a little scared to get back out there. Afraid it's going to flare up again whenever I do go back. Totally could go right this second, but that would just set me back again. Been over a month since I've ran in any amount and that sucks. I'm super ready to get back out and into a training block. Ready to see how my body improves and recovers with my new plant based eating habits.
