Maybe further down the line we'll learn more? Give the band and Phil some space; this will be hard for both parties.

I doubt they would have kicked him out to bring back Adam. I mean Phil would just have taken second guitar back and Adam on bass like before. Unless there was bad blood between Adam and Phil and it was the reason Adam left in the first place.

I don't want to be mean to Phil, but.... what "success"?? Haha...

Pretty sure Adam left because he just had his first child or something like that and preferred to be home. Was no bad blood.

Let's see, Goldfinger album isn't doing bad, he does radio. He's doing successful things that aren't Story

I think he was just done with the massive amounts of touring it took to just pay the bills. They kind of go into it in their music industry documentary.

Did him and Ryan actually end up releasing that doco?

Backers received it, but I guess it still hasn’t been released elsewhere. I have the DVD and I think I might have a digital copy but I’m not sure.

You know I love ya buddy, but these are kind of unfair to them. We don’t know what was going on behind the scenes.

But to have management do it seems super super odd.

I think that break-ups can be really messed up, and sometimes having a third party (management) involved could make it safer and easier (for both sides), not to mention there's legal stuff to be handled as well.

Of course, one could say that the other members are gutless or just straight-up assholes, but this is Story of the Year ffs... they have been best friends since they started. I highly doubt that the others are bitter for Phil being successful with other things in life than SOTY. Dan is probably doing just as good with The Fuck Off and Dies as Phil is doing with GF (not to mention that Ryan was also in that band), and Ryan is doing well as a photographer. And I do not see Josh being the one who has beef with Phil about anything, to me it always seemed like he just wanted to play drums and just goes along with whatever.

I also don't think it has anything to do with Phil being in Goldfinger, because he has been for years now. Maybe this "feud" is not band related at all? Someone mentioned something about family being involved. Perhaps this is all between Ryan and Phil, and SOTY supports Ryan, Idk.

Before we know exactly what happened, the possibilities are endless.

This does seem to be related to Ryan and Phil. Unless I’m mistaken, they’re the only ones who stopped following each other on social media, plus Ryan is out of Greek Fire.

Also, they’re getting a lot of shit from fans over this. I wonder if they’ll address it further or just leave it alone.

There are always two sides to a story, and I don't think fans should start throwing shit at SOTY or Phil before knowing what has really happened. The thing about Phil's post is that it makes it look like the only thing he's salty about is being kicked out via management, and he still didn't say anything about WHY they kicked him out. There could be legit reasons for their decision. It could be that Phil was holding the band back from playing shows, due to his other priorities. SOTY hasn't been able to travel overseas for years, and perhaps Phil didn't want to take time to go to Australia and such.

People who are mad at SOTY for not telling the whole story could be just as angry with Phil for the same reason. Just saying. I'm still going to support all these dudes, and I hope that the new Greek Fire record is coming soon, I'd also love me some new Goldfinger jams.

I think the official band post is just cold. When Adam left, they made a really big post about it, but this time it's just "By the way, this guy that has been in the band for 15 years is gone. Kthxbye."

That's a great point. Its super obvious that something really messy and personal went on so we'll never hear about it. We got a PR type statement that said nothing really but with Adam we got an response from him explaining why.

Wish both parties the best and excited for more SOTY and GF!

I see a lot of angry fans on Facebook and Instagram commenting on Phil's post, and they all seem to focus on HOW he was kicked out and not WHY. Am I the only one not judging anyone before having all the facts? Haha

Honestly all of that is dumb but what do you expect from comment sections haha. Maybe something terrible went down and them staying silent is the best thing? Who knows.

The only 3 questions people need to be asking are:

    1. Will the signed pledge stuff be signed by Phil still?

    2. Will those two unreleased music videos still be released since Phil is in them, but they are already shot?

    3. Is Skull back for good or fill in since they were in a tight spot with dates already booked.?

    1. If not I will raise hell. I payed for Phil's autograph goddamnit, haha. (It'd be awkward if someone pledged for a lesson or a hangout with Phil and they would not get that reward now)

    2. Either they aren't going to release them, or Ryan will edit Phil out of the videos, haha. Maybe they will shoot new videos with Adam (the best option).

    3. If he is, then why didn't they say anything about it in their post? I'm sure a couple of angry fans would be less angry, as I saw some people commenting about how much it sucks to lose both Adam and Phil.

Regardless of what's going on and if Ryan's beef with Phil is legit or not, the fact Phil had to find out through management is messed up. The three of them could have talked to Phil in person or on a call at the very least. Letting management do the dirty work is a low move in my mind regardless of what Phil did. It is just really bad optics all around. And to put a poor statement out just compounds the issue. The band handling this really poorly will be a constant in this situation. Phil could have done something really bad/dumb/shady, but the band did not do a good job tipping anyone off or covering their ass. NFG at least said they can't say much at the time, but once they can say more they would. SOTY via management went with the most basic, canned response for someone who has been in the band for a really long time. Really poor decision in my opinion.
