Who have they toured with in the past? Curious what the lineup would be if they went on a full tour.

@Kennedy cant wait for you to hear the first bonus track.

@sophos34 what did you think of that one? Guitar work on that one is fucking wild.

the most overtly post-hardcore influenced song on the album some old at the drive in vibes in that guitar work

Yeah its a fucking heavy/intense song for them. This album has sooo much variety yet it flows so well and everything fits in perfectly. Its impressive.

not sure if the elephant in the room so to speak has been addressed but obviously this thing sounds a lot like brand new, but honestly, thats great because now i can listen to this band instead of them and not miss them at all. born blind is heavy daisy influenced but better than anything on daisy lol

For me this album sort of fits in a space inbetween devil and god and daisy. Definitely has its own sound tho. What do you think of the production? I think the guitar tones are unbelievable.

yea I didn't want to be the one to say it... but yea its gonna be hard to beat..

Thrice, MWY, or La Dispute could all compete though.

i don't even know what's schedule to come out this year / what might come out in 2018, but this isn't gonna be easily topped. additionally, i really really fall in love with TROW in fall, so i have allllll spring / summer to enjoy this before it REALLY sets in. almost not fair to the rest of the albums coming out this year (also not interested in what has come out so far)

Okay I finally gave it a proper listen and I'm pleased to say I've done a complete 180 on my initial impressions. Not sure I'm ready to declare it their best record (though it probably is) or my favourite record of theirs (we're a ways off that yet), but it's definitely a brilliant piece of work. Only thing I'll say though is I wish it had some more 'left field' tracks like The Attic or Grounded, I Am Travelling Light, but probably because they were my two favourite songs of Varuna.

Early standouts - Birdless Cage, Dialogues (the Monologues callback gave me chills), Colored Out

I will be okay. everything Supporter

I would say birdless cage and colored out feel pretty left field to me - I didn’t listen to them when they were released as singles so I was pretty surprised to hear songs like those on an album like this. I think they fit really well tho

mwY and La Dispute are about the only ones I can think of that have something in the works that could top this.

It's a "B-Side", but "(Amaterasu)" is out of left field too.

This album probably confirms to me now that TROW are one of my favourite active bands. I've loved everything they've ever released and the quality of Shrine just elevates them further into that category. It was worth the wait.
