Think this is what I'm gonna do. Uncharted 2 might be my favorite game ever.

Started TLOU last night just so I could show my girlfriend the opening sequence.

So fucking hard being at work knowing I have so many hours of fun sitting at home.

 

You definitely get enjoyment out of Solo play. The story is pretty interesting the first couple of playthroughs with different endings depending on what choices you make.

Even the competitive/MP I did by myself by just logging in to 2 devices.

I've loved all of them. There are a few bugs, but I've never experienced anything game breaking or anything

 

I do agree that Fallout 4 gets unfair hate.

Buuuuuuuuut, the game was released 7 years after the Fallout 3 and offered very little improvements. The stuff that was added (base building) was half baked, poorly designed/executed, and left a lot to be desired. The technical issues were the typical Bethesda fair, but again - I think people expected that with their first release on current gen hardware that we would see a lot of the shoddy bugs remedied. It gives a poor perception. I agree, that in general people were more forgiving with other titles from Bethesda and it seems unfair. But man, as someone who is playing the game (currently) way later than most, the game is still pretty glitchy and does feel like a substantial DLC pack from an absolutely brilliant 2008 game.

 

I'm not trying to re-hash the Fallout 4 debate. Just bringing it up as, to me, an example of a game that was unfairly hated by a ton of people and using that as an analogy for what I'm afraid may happen to Red Dead Redemption 2 when it comes out. That's all.

No worries. I wasn't trying to pile on as like I said, I am still playing through it. It's just the last two times I've tried to play I've had it freeze/crash on me and it has me quite pissed haha.

 

This put me off on buying it for now. Love this guys reviews and always trust him.

 

What is his general census? At work.

 

Wait for a sale. It's buggy. Enemy progression doesn't make sense. Mission/psychedelic differences are off putting. Overall he liked it a bit though.

I'm in no rush to play it with Ni no Kuni and a shit ton of homework.

 

Yeah, I ended up picking up NNK and am gonna wait for FC5 to go on sale, and for me to have more time to actually play it

SkillUp really enjoyed it and said he only encountered one bug the whole time he played. Only negative for him was the microtransactiona, which he goes into in detail. Those micros sound pretty egregious though, holy shit.

Looks like there’s somewhat of a split on this one although it does have an 81 on MetaCritic.

Also watch out if you’re going to watch that it looks like there are some spoilers in it that I skipped over.

Yeah idk that's bad. It sounds like the gun and ammo system was designed to squeeze players to the point that they cough up the cash. Like the game doesn't give you nearly enough money for doing missions and killing enemies to buy things. Skill Up said in his total playtime, which was like 40-something hours, he only managed to buy a shotgun, a sniper, and two helicopters. That is, uh, not good. I'm currently trying to cancel my preorder, I had no idea about this before now.

Does it effect gameplay?

 

Well if you can't buy any guns because they're too expensive, you can't use anything that you don't pick up from dead enemies. And if you can't buy your own vehicles you probably have to go looking for them in the open world. It's pretty much designed to make you have to purchase in-game currency with real money to engage in the kinds of power fantasies that players typically associate with the Far Cry games.

It's actually "Far Cry 5 has no loot boxes, and you won't mind the microtransactions."

But if what Skill Up says is true, I'm pretty sure I will.

the micros seem to be just "skip the line" rather than gated content, i could care less. will prob wait to hear some first hand impressions but will pick up later this week
