Love Ghostwatch. It sucks that I have seen so many movies expecially when I go somewhere like this and ask for reccomendations. I just feel like a jerk saying "seen it, seen it, loved it."

Thanks for all the help though!

    I'm Back.

Did you come to this thread before the changeover to Chorus? There were a bunch of people that I haven't seen in here what so ever.

    -The Battery
    -Resolution
-The Encounter - alien related but really good.
-Appetites - super low budget Natural Born Killer type vibe.
-Bloodsucking Bastards - The vampire Shaun of The Dead.
    -Cooties
-Armistice - Guy keeps waking up in a house and murdered over and over and over.
-Wither (Swedish film) - Makes the Evil Dead Remake look innocent.

I'm pretty sure you haven't seen at least a couple of that list.

I have not seen: the battery, appetites, armistice, or wither !

Alright well out of all those, The Battery is the most "indie", if that makes sense. Wither is the most complete and gloriously violent and 99% practical effects. Whatever filter they used to film makes this look so beautiful.

I'm going to have to hunt down Wither. The Evil Dead remake was so much fun. I'd love to see a Swedish equivalent.

Just bask in the glorious Karo syrup. Also some of the scariest visuals in some time.

saw and liked The House of the Devil a lot! wish there had been a bit more payoff and a little fewer obvious "this situation is not normal and you should be worried" moments, but great control of atmosphere and wonderful homage to old horror (loved the Psycho reference).

What creeps me out about JC is that a convicted pedophile made it and it's sequel, and that people can't understand that we as a society should not allow people like that to make more movies.

Now more positive stuff, we really ought to as a thread compile a list of must see movies for newcomers to the genre. I love people getting into horror and I think we, as a group of people who knows their shit, should help people build a foundation. I dunno, I think it's a cool idea.

Something like 5-10 films with some sort of justification explained? I think it'd be be fun to actually keep in mind that the list is designed to be for someone new to horror and would serve as an introduction. I'm sure a bunch of top ten lists from all of us, things are going to get obscure or extreme.

Probably wanna do 10 overall then 10 in some of the larger subgenres (paranormal/ghost, thriller, slasher, classic, etc).
