Big Boi Becomes First Artist Signed To LA Reid's New Record Label

Big Boi is signed to LA Reid's new label, as they're trying to push a new single produced by Dr. Luke. So disappointing.

 

Did anything else ever come out of the He Is We situation? I got hit up for an ad about their EP in April and don't remember what ever came out of that post from a few months back.

Yeah, that's what I saw from Facebook, just touring and about to release and EP. The post from Macy is still on Facebook with the last post on it being someone claiming it was all a scam? Hmm.

He went on NRATV and said that gun control is bad, that he would kick his kids out if they marched, and that no one marching cared about police violence even though many prominent people in the fight against police violence marched today.

Pretty smoothly handled on this band's part.

 

Jesus, Sam seemed like the sweetest most genuine dude when I met him.

I doubt anything good will come out of TGY now, his voice was the only distinguishing thing about them.

Like, Fuck him, I'm glad the band took care of it but jesus. This is so jarring.

 

Well then.

 

After reading the Sam/TGY allegations: It's perfectly in character for him and everything I know about him and he's said.

Basically he kept on being flirty with this 19 year old, started begging for nudes, talking about what he wanted to do to her at Slam Dunk. She expressed being uncomfortable but he pressed on. They planned to meet at Slam Dunk, he bailed on her and it eventually came out he was lying to her and had another girlfriend the whole time.

Idk how I feel about it. It was disgusting but sometimes when guys are young and immature they take what they can get and don't really hear when the person says "no" cause they're blinded by their horniness, blah blah blah.

General rule of thumb for guys initiating any type of sexual conversations with anyone: It's okay to ask "Is this okay?" Make sure you and the other person are on the same page. Also recognize you have power in most situations and you shouldn't abuse it. A lot of shy and self-hating guys don't realize they have power cause they think if what they did was truly so bad the other person would just leave them. But always make sure the other person feels safe and comfortable, and understand that the other person's safety is always more important than your wants.

 

Yeah, I liked their album but his voice and song writing was the reason. Hopefully they find a good replacement.

As for that Insta post, it sounds a bit ominous.

 

That Instagram post is one of the worst statements I have ever read.

I mean, they kicked him out pretty much straight away after discussing it and getting the legal side sorted it seems and spoke about believing survivors. I don't see the point of saying this about the other guys who haven't done anything wrong?

 

And taking it a step further, sometimes asking if something is okay can still lead to someone being uncomfortable. I know at least as a woman sometimes I have this instinct to smooth things over and say it's okay when I'm uncomfortable because I don't want to cause a fuss or, especially when I was younger, I wanted to seem like a cool girl or like I was down or something and didn't want a guy I admired to be mad at me. I know that might lead someone to say BUT HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOOOOW I DON'T READ MINDS!!" But I'd suggest paying close attention to communication. Does the woman suddenly stop responding or are responses spaced further out? Does she try to change the subject when u make advances? Idk I feel like for the most part i can tell when someone isn't rly responding well to me or are trying to shake me off, so when men act completely clueless and baffled I never rly understand. Anyway, not disagreeing with what u said, just adding!

Honestly I know Sam is super mentally fucked, I'm pretty sure he's bipolar depressive, so honestly that statement is the best we could expect from him

Eh. He can feel that way lol. The majority of this site aren’t big fans of pop punk bands that sound exactly like 30 others.

Band did the right thing though.

 

I'm actually the polar opposite, haha. One of the main reasons I got into WSTR was because they sound so much like Neck Deep.

I think name dropping Neck Deep on this website is like walking into a crowded mass and screaming "Hail Satan". But at this point, I'm regular enough on this site that people who recognize me generally know I support them.

 

I enjoy WSTR, good dudes. But could never like Neck Deep. Even before any trouble the band had.
