I want a lean cast of like 10 people. Gives everybody way more time to shine.

I mean, the first cast was 7 people!

  2. I dunno, Melissa’s lines always feel really.... lifeless to me. Doesn’t ever feel like she adds anything to the sketch. Haven’t seen anything outside SNL besides her stand up which is just Fine

Heidi and Chris have proven to be such great additions that I almost feel bad for Luke lol but that dude just bombs every single time.

I definitely do feel bad for Luke. I can't even imagine what it must be like for him, achieving the dream of being on SNL but knowing that his days are numbered and still just giving it his all to try and turn it around at the end. Sucks.

I really want to know what Mulaney whispered to Bill Hader on Update. It started with "My girlfriend..." and then it gets harder to hear. But whatever it was, Bill wasn't expecting to hear it, clearly haha

For that Canadian sketch, if you’re gonna goof on Weinstein assaulting women, you gotta have a better punchline than “Canadians, am I right?”

Loved Stefon, but I really felt like "Roman J Israel, Esq" was kinda shoehorned in there. Didn't really work for me.

with Melissa it's tough because like Noel Wells they clearly chose her just because of the impressions, which she's great at , but outside that Lorne doesn't really know how to use her

The politics of SNL are so weird, lot of people only write in smaller groups and its real easy to get left out, so many talented people just get boxed out and forgotten every season it feels like

Multiple SNL alumni have said Lorne prefers cast members/writers to compete against each other to pitch ideas to him. As much as I love so many people who have come out of the show, working there seems like a nightmare at times.

I’ve been listening to Brooks Wheelans podcast, and he has occasional insights on how shitty/ stressful it is to land SNL and then never get on. I feel like there are probably a lot of parallels there with Luke

And Noel, and Shasheer, and Julia Louis Dreyfuss, and Sarah Silverman, and tons of other people who have done great things since working on SNL but were largely left out during their time on the show. It’s a bad system for showcasing talent, I’m just realizing Leslie got as much screen time as Luke Null this week, it’s so easy to fall through the cracks and get shut out

I think it was "my girlfriend wants to touch your penis" or something similar

Yea, I remember in the early 2000s a cable news network (probably MSNBC) did a behind-the-scenes special about a typical week and Gwyneth Paltrow was the host for that week and the Tuesday night writing was what always stuck out in my mind about the show.

Janeane Garofalo has said she quit on her own because at the time (1994?) it felt too much like a boys' club and she was left out

Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

I am going to start the tell-all book "Live From New York" this weekend, so I will be able to tell you all how terrible it might be to work there soon.

It's a great read! It does sound stressful and awful but also fun and incredible to work there

It might be my favorite book I've ever read. I've read the entire 700 page thing multiple times

Make sure you have the expanded version that came out a few years ago

Mulaney said “My girlfriend works at Yoshinoya Beef Bowl.” Hahahaha

One of the anecdotes I remember from the book was Norm MacDonald got fired from the show for making too many OJ Simpson jokes because one of the NBC execs was still good buddies with OJ even after the murder trial

There are some good interviews of Norm on Dave Letterman around that time and they just shit on Don Ohlmeyer and the whole situation.

I feel as though Hader or other cast members mentioned Bieber being the worst in the past
