What is your favorite story to tell from your own life for comedic purposes? How about for sentimental purposes?

I see a tiny black line at the bottom-left of my left eye but can't get it to go away. Should I assume this is a stray eyelash or google what it could be? Could it be something too scary to want to google?

What are your top 5 favorite days of your life so far?

 

I have a lot of really great stories about both myself and my family but I think one that stands out as being funny is that I broke into a cemetery with my mom a few years ago. For sentimental purposes, I like when people ask if my parents were/are supportive of my career path and getting to talk about how growing up my dad basically became my drum tech and all the other things my family's done to support me over the years.

I have an abnormal amount of anxiety surrounding my eyes so my gut reaction is to never google what it could be and if you're super concerned, go to the doctor.

This is super, super, super tough. So, in no order:
1. My cousin's Bat Mitzvah two years ago was the first time we had gotten to have a big family gathering since I moved and that was an absolute riot in the best way
2. The first day of the Safely tour
3. The day of the This Is Me performance
4. Drum tracking day for Love Stories
5. A few years ago my parents, sister, and did a big Disney trip to Orlando. The first day in Magic Kingdom, two things happened: We discovered that my mom thought the hidden Mickey phenomenon meant that there were people dressed up as Mickey hiding throughout the park that would jump out and scare people. We also then got very inspired by Easy A to have a "family member of the week". My mom named herself commissioner and wrote out massive document of by-laws and then "held a press conference" when my dad argued that nepotism could be an issue if she was the commissioner.

 

Do/did you ever have to fight with nerves before performing in front of people? If so, do you have any routine that helps to quell those nerves?

 

At this point, it really depends on the gig. I don't remember ever getting too nervous, but I always carry a healthy amount of nerves. I think if you aren't at least a little bit nervous, it's not something important or something that you care about. Whenever it comes up, I try to remind myself how long I've been playing and that I work my ass off. As a drummer, most of the time I'm hired or selected to perform so I also tell myself that other people believed I could do it.

 

@Meerkat what hair products do you use/what do you do to style your hair?

 

This is so so so true. I feel like people without at least a hint of nerves are the people more likely to not try or not put anything behind the performance.

 

You asked for it:
So first of all, my hair is naturally very wavy and thick. And I have a ton of it. So both sides of my head are completely shaved. I wash my hair at night (2 or 3 times a week) with Tresemme Smooth & Silky shampoo and condition once every 2-3 washes with Dove Daily Moisture. I let it air dry for minimally an hour (ideally 2-3, which is art of why my hair is a night project) and then blow dry it. After blowing it dry, I let it sit for again at least another hour before I flat iron it. Then because it's usually too straight, I sleep on it. Then it's perfect. I usually don't use any product, mostly because I'm still trying to find something heavy enough to hold my hair without making it hard as a rock. Occasionally I'll throw a light mousse or wax in it just for some extra texture.

 

Definitely! It's been a long time since I've felt uncomfortably nervous. I've trained myself to just think of it as a reminder of excitement and/or passion.

I know Lucky Strike does a funk night. It’s Friday’s but I can’t remember if it’s every Friday or a first Friday type of thing. That’s the closest thing I can offer to an answer sadly
