Need to get as many people on board as possible. I'd love a new album from them. It's been a bit.

@Nate_Johnson and I are paired up together.

He will listen to Strata - Presents The End of the World and as a bonus the new Black Foxxes record as well since he was already planning on listening to it anyways.

I will be listening to Teenage Wrist - Chrome Neon Jesus

No worries man hope you enjoy both records! :)

Fun anecdote that Strata album came out in 2007 when I was moving out for the first time on my own well with my bro and a friend but yeah I have very fond memories of that record and think its very underappreciated. Like I told you in our dm's when I preordered the vinyl for the 10 year anniversary release the vocalist who I'm friends with on fb asked some people if they wanted their names included in the liner notes and I said yes. Finally got my copy and it's a pretty sweet red vinyl. Funny to see my name in there alongside dredg and a bunch of other people haha

Each Monday you are paired randomly with a user of the club. You guys DM and trade 1-2 a piece albums that the other hasn’t heard. After listening and getting a feel for it, later in the week you come back and review it. What you liked, what you didn’t like, stand out tracks. However you want to talk about the albums given to you. Fairly simple, fun, and helps discover new music

16748.jpeg IMG_20180318_173655_264.jpg IMG_20180319_110421_779.jpg Hey guys ! Alright, so here's my review from the Senses Fail show last night. The show was at my favorite venue in Philly called the TLA. Me and the girlfriend arrived around 4 and grabbed a beer at a local pub, around 5 we got to the venue and heard the Senses Fail sound check from outside. At 6 the doors opened and we made a bline straight for the baracade and we were dead center. The very first band I forgot who they were, but after them was Have Mercy, I've heard of them but never heard them. I'll tell you, they blew me away ! I got strong Coheed vibes from them too. They were also great dudes . After Have Mercy was Reggie And The Full Effect. Now, this is when the crowd packed the place in. Now, Reggie was always band where I heard but never knew who it was, but my god they were fun ! " Valentine's Day " is a jam and I was jumping up and down. Also, they had great stage bantar. By that point I was getting hyped for Senses Fail, they came out to the Undertaker's theme, I geeked out because I love wrestling. They came out with bats swinging opening up with " Family Tradition " and the inner high school kid in me bursted out. The raw emotion Buddy has is purely amazing, seeing him clean and sober is a beautiful thing. When they played anything off of If There's Light the crowd responded beautifully. Yes, when they played " Elevator To The Gallows " I head banged all the way through and Buddy gave me a nod of approval. But the highlight of the night for me was when they came out for the encore, they busted right into "187" and ended with " Rum" and "Bite To Break Skin". Throughout the eniter show me and the girlfriend just felt giddy inside. Buddy is easily one of the best frontmen in the scene, he genuine and wears his heart on his sleeve. They powerd through 21 songs, nothing but non stop action ! After the show, everybody cleared out, we decided to wait two hours outside. A tour bus rolls up, Buddy comes strolling out of the venue with his beautiful pit bull Lucy. We apporach him, and he was the most nicest and humble person ever. He came back off the tour bus and talked to us and took pictures with us. He even let me play with his dog ! Buddy is truly an awesome person ! It was a night to remember.

Dude seriously? WOW no kidding! Such an underrated gem of a record.

You know it got me thinking the other night when we were talking about Paper Route. Are you familiar with the band Paper Rival? Their one and only record Dialog is one of my favorites of all time. Self titled EP was excellent as well and like Paper Route they are also from Nashville, TN.

Edit: Their EP Thieves released under their previous name Keating was also good. Great band. Broke up way too soon. But left some great work behind that I still return to regularly.

  11. I must have heard good things about them at some point because I recognize the name and it looks like I added them to my streaming library. Haven't actually listened yet though. I'll have to add it to my list!

Ok if you know this band i will be very impressed! They were originally called Pilate then changed their name to Pilot Speed. Their debut album released when they were still called Pilate titled Caught by the window is also one of my favorite albums of all time.

The follow up in Canada was Sell Control for Life's Speed and got reissued in the states when they changed their name to Pilot Speed and was called Into The West. Awesome band as well.

The never ending list right?! If anything this group has done it’s put amazing music in my “must listen to” list that I’ll finally finish by the time I am long gone. Just send me off with Apple Music on shuffle!

Prior to engaging with it, I had only heard Hey Jealousy and Found Out About You! But I liked this album. The very first track is one of my favorites, as it effectively ties together the singer's struggle with alcohol addiction and the patented catchy guitar rock Gin Blossoms are known for. Just about every song starts exactly the same however, with a little drum fill and then a wash of guitars. When they mix it up it stands out in a positive way, and 29 is an example of this. Overall, I enjoyed the album and will likely give it a few more spins!

I actually have had Metropole for years and really love it, but never thought to go back in The Lawrence Arms' catalog. Right off the bat I was struck by how much more polished and youthful this album sounds than Metropole. Songs like On With the Show and Hesitation Station bristle with energy and ear-splitting vocal performances. Both singers bring a lot to the plate on this record and the drums are a sturdy and rarely flashy backbone. This album will also be entering my rotation and will stay there until we get that Nihilist Arby's solo record.

  15. You've got to be f***ing kidding me. Into the West (US version of Sell Control) is probably one of my favorite albums ever. I've been waiting for the right time to recommend it here. SO GOOD

@JRGComedy great reviews there. I love both those albums. I’m a sucker for 90’s rock so that Gin Blossoms gets me everytime and The Greatest Story is one of my all time favourite punk albums.

  18. Haha yeah I had a running list that got to multiple hundreds of albums that I finally just had to trash altogether because it felt like a slog and I wasn't enjoying it anymore. Doing a better job keeping up with stuff since then, my list is currently at like 30-ish and it's mostly new releases I want to check out.

I totally get it. I want to check out the top 20 off that Metacritic list I posted. I have heard about a quarter of them and some of my favorites are pretty highly rated.

  20. I'm listening to this new S. Carey album right now and it's really beautiful. Kind of reminds me of Copeland in spots. And Bon Iver of course.
