But like it's not really true that "only gay people have to come out"

Interested in seeing this because it seems to be trying to tell a story that is similar to my own coming out story as a cis white gay guy who didn't come out until the end of high school, but I'm also a little skeptical of it... and I hope it portrays more queer identities than just cis white gay men. Maybe I would know better if I had read the book.

But yeah that soundtrack looks nice, too.

I went to a screening for this tonight and was so impressed. I haven’t read the book, so I don’t know if it really stays true to it. Agreeing with the posts above, the soundtrack fits perfectly with the movie. It is almost 2 hours but it moves at a good pace, so it doesn’t feel like 2 hours. I honestly can’t wait to see it again.

This was a really nice surprise, liked just about everything in this other than Tony Hale. Just wish my theater didn't go apeshit over certain crowd-pleasing moments toward the end to the point where I couldn't hear the film. But yeah, I enjoyed this

Really enjoyed this book. Cool soundtrack, and I like the cast and Berlanti. Looking forward to it.

I had heard people talking about this movie for a few months, and seen the trailer and thought it looked okay, but I had the chance to go to an advanced screening earlier this week and was like sure, why not. I'm so glad I went because it was adorable and heartbreaking and funny. The whole audience was totally into it awwwing, crying, and cheering. And the soundtrack is so so good.

Just saw this in a packed theater and the crowd went crazy at every feel good moment.... really did not expect that at all.

    Really good movie though!

I'm glad they mentioned that Josh Duhamel and Jennifer Garner are hot, I felt so old having them play parents of a teenager, also they were both Stuhlbargs in a way
I loved all the little character quirks of Simon, he listens to The Kinks on vinyl, he has Elliott Smith and Bob's Burgers posters and a Hamilton playbill
I also love that his sexual awakening was to Brendon Urie
Even Nora was great, the little sister character is usually annoying
I appreciate that Cabaret was the musical but I feel like that would be a hard thing for a high school to approve even one that's progressive
the teens and tweens were so into this and it was so pure and adorbs and uplifting, they were shipping Simon and Blue so hard
and yeah in terms of representation I can't think of any mainstream movie like this which is kinda sad but hopefully we can do better in the future, always here for more gay and not in regards to this but non-white romcoms and teen movies

This was really, really great. I knew Blue was Bram as soon as he took off Simon’s glasses during the pong game.

I've never been so targeted by a movie in my life. The Bleachers and Panic! At the Disco. Singing the violent femmes song at karaoke and everyone just being like dude come on. The sadder parts and then more obvious coming out/coming to terms struggles. And agreed with @mgiannotti, I figured it was him from that point too.

Definitely a little bittersweet though, made me wish I had been honest about myself a long time ago.

Picked the book up when I bought Lady Bird on release day, and finished it the next day. The writing is clunky and typical YA, but I'm excited to see it in movie format. Going with my partner tomorrow.

Man, I loved this so much. I'm so glad there wasn't some twist that Blue is a girl, and they went full rom-com. I can't wait to rewatch the heck out of this.

Two genres that always seem to get me are coming of age and rom-com's and this was the best of both! I absolutely loved it. Genuinely hilarious and heartfelt. Definitely had me cheering with the reveal at the end.
