Short and Butler are both pass rushers. We needed a NT type.

 

Curious as to what the CB situation will be for the Browns. I liked McCourty better than the two players we signed. I'm guessing we will be active on that front in the draft.

 

Poe might even be an upgrade from Star

 

Carolina upgraded by going from Star to Poe. You can do more with Dontari Poe up front - he is a multi-front nose that can play almost any spot on the DL. I think it's a disservice to use him as a zero tech unless it's like a fourth and inches situation.

I think he can do a lot of damage as a 1 or a 2i.

It really is. I still think that the 49ers are shelling out the worst contracts this offseason.

I don't know what the hell Jacksonville is doing either. Those Marqise Lee and Donte Moncrief contracts are head-scratchers.

 

He is going to do what he always did. Build an offense of a bunch of old dudes and slow the game down.

Gruden thinks he can out coach and out scheme everybody. I will say this about him: he values route running over speed more than any coach besides maybe Urban Meyer. He wants everything to be about timing.

I don't know why he doesn't like Mike Crabtree. Crabtree is a perfect receiver for his offense.

 

They need to use a chunk of that space to lock up Clowney

Gives a little more to the idea of Fitzpatrick. I like McCourty, but I think it's fine to let him go. He's not a long term answer and giving him the right to play well elsewhere is fine.

As for their CB corps, Boddy-Calhoun was pretty solid last year. Taylor might be released though due to the ability to gain almost $4 million by cutting him, but I think he could still be good. Williams' coverage plans are just horrible sometimes. He plays a bunch of zone, yet they were actually very good in man-to-man coverage last year. Either way, Carrie is a pretty nice pick-up, we've got Mitchell coming in for depth, and seeing how Howard Wilson works out. Still, I think they could take someone in the draft.

 

If the Browns draft Fitzpatrick and play him outside, it's a wasted pick.

 

Yeah. I still doubt that anyways. I really think they'll take a QB at 1 and trade out of 4 now. I'd love to see them get Ward or Jackson in the right spot.

 

Why is it gross? It makes him

the 6th highest paid QB in 2018
the 4th highest paid QB in 2019 (and Tannehill is #5...Flacco is #6), and assumes no new deal for Cam, Russ, or Rodgers
the 2nd highest paid QB in 2020 (same caveats)

Odds are he wont even be a top 5 QB by salary in any year, and lets be honest, QB salaries for franchise guys are functionally 100% guaranteed once FA starts. Has there been any franchise QB cut in May or August?

Whats gross is Joe Flacco making functionally the same money over the next 3 years, and the Ravens having no real way out until 2020
