I mean, probably not but it makes a ton of sense. They just lost their slot corner in PRob. Rodney McLeod is probably only here for one more year.

They could sign him and bring him into to play the nickel spot and rotate back to safety once in a while but then take over for McLeod in 19. But yeah, don't think so. They need to do SOMETHING at nickel though.

 

And everybody knew at the time of signing Suh he was not seeing the full life of that contract

That contract was a god damn dumpster fire from the start. His next one will be too.

 

what made the contract worse was that they restructured it like immediately lol

whatever, I don't hate this though. If you're going to purge, do it all in one offseason

they are actually set up great on the cap in 2019, and thats without even taking into account Branch and Alonso being gone which is like 99% going to happen next year

 

But we are talking about a team that hasn't ever had more than a median QB haha. I'd love to get back to the level of passing we had in Leftwich's one good year (3900 yards, 26 TD 12 INT i believe) or back when Brunell had copious amounts of talent around him (similar to those Leftwich numbers).

Hell, if we really do push Fournette over 1500 yards with an improved O Line, I'd be happy with a paltry but safe 3000 / 18 TD / 3 INT passing season a la 2007 David Garrard.

It's funny but we've been here before. The few times the Jags have been competitive since the year 2000, it's been with excellent defense and running game, a quarterback no one takes seriously, and the shittiest WR corps in the league lol.

Now we have a back who could certainly be as dangerous as MJD was, an offensive line that rivals our mid 2000s line, and a better defense than we've ever had. I would be THRILLED if Bortles became a "median" quarterback. We already almost beat the Patriots in the AFCCG, that improvement might mean Superbowl.
