the whole "college players should be compensated" debate does need to be put on the table in the near future as the NCAA is making billions off these children.

personally i do believe they should be paid to an extent, but on the other hand a lot of the players (aside from walk ons) get scholarships all four years while a lot of young adults can not afford to go to a post secondary school because of tuition costs.

the slave labor comparison is a bit much though.

 

A fair trade off would be to force the ncaa to use those profits to erase all student debt and provide free college for everyone

I mean yeah it is sensationalist, I pretty much assume any comparison to slavery is sensationalist hahaha and I think by @iCarly Rae Jepsen's tone it wasn't meant to be A=B.

But I also agree with @Mr. Serotonin's point that they're basically brought on just to play sports and are overloaded with so much athletic work that it's difficult to take advantage of that world class education without jeopardizing their sports future, but it doesn't change the fact that they still do receive that college education (sometimes for free). I just wish the NCAA didn't get to profit so heavily off of player's images/jerseys/etc without the players being able to do the same. It's one thing to not give the players a cut, it's another thing to make it a giant scandal when the player charges for autographs.
