What New Mystery Is This?!- The mewithoutYou Discography Exploration
    It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All a Dream! It's Alright

    Every Thought Is A Thought

Well this wasn't what I was expecting. I dig this as the intro! Its got this weird, creepy but groovy beat to it that's almost haunting; and this is actually more sung than I am used to with this band that seems to love its spoken poem lyrics. This has me optimistic for this album! Also the weird distorted last minute made me laugh. I have a feeling this is going to be a weird album. Musically its a bit more lively and I am ok with that.

The Fox, The Crow, and the Cookie
Another super bizarre song, this one is a weird and twisted dark look on a children's nursery rhyme. This though, its just an attachment to this band using poem like lyrics to put forth a dark morality twist about life; and this makes more sense listening to this song. Also has some very cool plucking in the background and some violins. I am quite a fan of this song, and so far this album is 2/2. Again, musically more lively and I like this; and they seem to be experimenting with some really bizarre choice sound effects. Still all good.

The Angel Of Death Came To David
This one starts off really creepy, and the lyrics are kind of haunting. And then after about a minute, the song explodes into being musically just as creepy, with the lyrics continuing. Its a song about death, plain and simple, and they execute it in such a rhythmic and daunting manner that I cannot help but love this song. This is by far my favorite song that I have heard by this band so far. Its big In scope, it sounds great, its got almost a horror feel to it or some sort of brothers grimm feel. I am all on board with this song, and I can see myself returning to this more than any of their other stuff.

    Goodbye, !!
wat. This song is different. Very. It almost has a county feel to it, or a blues feel complete with a mandolin sound in the background and country themed lyrics in the beginning. This one was cool and different for these guys (That's saying a lot), and it also had some really cool guitar riffs and drums. Probably my least favorite of the songs I have heard so far, but still not bad!

    A Stick, A Carrot & String
And now we have a polka influence. They really are going to try and out bizarre themselves on this one aren't they? I am hearing influences from a ton of different genres; and I actually kind of dig it. So far this is their most diverse sounding album, and its also their most rhythmic. This is another sung song, and that seems to be the case on the majority of the lyrics on this album. I can dig this one quite a bit too! Its in the back half of the album, but good none the less.

    Bullet To Binary, Pt. Two
Back to the aggressive speech poem singing, this sounds more like their other material, but it switches to this cool and weird singing a little bit into the song. Its a bit more on the aggressive side musically, as I said before, but it works well because they have layers in this song and flesh it out a bit. Another pretty good song! I especially like how it seems like every time they get to the 'verses', another layer comes in and adds to the ferocity of the song and it picks up and becomes bigger.
Until half way through the song it just flattens and becomes much more subdued. I kind of wish they had kept the ferocity they had going, but the last minute of the song more then makes up for it.

    Timothy Hay
Beginning of this song made me thing of the intro of 'Doug' lol. But anyway, this one starts off almost nursery rhymish again, and this may be one of their more restrained songs musically; and while the lyrics and drums pick up towards the last minute and a half of the song, the rest of the instruments are much more held back. Still not a bad thing at all, and it works for this song. This one was okay, but I'd place It on the back half of the album. Not bad though.

    Fig With A Bellyache
    ....
The heck is this? This is probably one of the weirder songs on the album. Man, this is a bizarre album but I cannot even begin to hate on it because these guys are trying EVERYTHING they want to. I do kind of like the musical parts of this song, it relishes in its weirdness and cranks it up to 10. Lyrically its pretty decent as well, and I found the back up vocals kind of amusing and got used to them after a little bit.

    Cattail Down
This song starts off very sad and somber, and remains like that for much of the song. Its one of the slower songs on the album, though there are some parts where I kind of hear a ska influence to the song. Lyrically its all over the place in the best ways, and I kind of laughed at one part where they talk about finding a sack of weed and you hear a soft voice go "sorry mom" in the background....but then YOURE EVERYONE ELSE YOURE EVERYONE ELSE YOURE EVERYONE ELSE YOUR EVERYONE ELSE....I'm going to be hearing that in my sleep. Its an ear worm phrase when they pick it up and the whole band begins to chant it.

The King Beetle On Coconut Estate
Another softer song, for the most part. It starts off very very soft before exploding about half way through into what is basically an entirely different song sewn together. The lyrics are bizarre, with lyrics about laying down next to your mother and how your real dad isn't around. This is probably my least favorite song on the album, and I actually found myself not enjoying it, except for the first and last minutes of the song, where they just go all out on the latter.

    Allah, Allah, Allah
This is actually a pretty cool closing song. Its got a nice acoustic guitar feel going to it, and there are some very big musical moments in it once the first minute and a half of the song is done. Drums, trumpets, guitar, back up vocals; they all intertwine with eachother great. Lyrically, its actually one of the more catchy outings Ive heard from the band and there are definitely some parts I caught myself singing along with even as I was just learning the lyrics. The last two minutes of the song are insane as well, and a definite A+ way to end the song, just letting go of everything and going big with the drums and the beat of the song. It was an epic way to end the album, and honestly gave me this finality feeling of 'final song of the night go home after this' like you would get from the end of a setlist at a concert or something where the instruments just go on big after the vocals are done. Great closer.

    Conclusion
I enjoyed this one much more than my last outing with these guys, and this one was so weird! But it was weird in a way I could respect; these guys do what they want and how they want, and this time they had no restraint on it. It was almost a case of "Sure throw that in there. that too! Do it all!" but that worked for them in spades. I liked this one, and out of their albums I can see myself listening to this one the most, or just as much as their first album. Solid release, and plenty of good tunes on here. 8/10. Your move, @bachna84
