I definitely think (hope) that if a new album comes there's going to be a lot more to it than this. I do like the song for what it is though. I think they're trying to lower our expectations to knock us on our asses when they drop an album lol.

I still enjoy most of YFW for what it is.

Watch them put out a new album every year for the next 5 years.

Could just be my speakers but I can barely hear what song it is, it sounds so muted and strange? He says SOMEthing in place of those lines, if not actually singing the lines?

He's a damn solid drummer. A lot of the attention Brand New gets goes straight to Jesse, but the rest of the band is great at what they do, too.

    Then there's this:

Speculation on the ending lyrics aside, It SHOCKS me that they do not play this song live regularly.

My life will be a tiny bit incomplete until I hear Noro's notes with my own ears.

    ...I also hear both. ha.

Brian and Garrett hold it down on the rhythm section

I remember a lot of people lost their shit over it online, talking about Jesse being a dick and the band breaking up and nonsense like that. I can't find it now but at another show Jesse apologized, said he loved Brian, and that Brian is the best drummer ever. Kinda gives you a glimpse as to how annoying fans online can be.

This x a million. I think Sic Transit was a lot of people's introduction to Brand New, and they dominate that song.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

Garrett in particular gets nowhere near enough of the attention. I know it's the classic thing of the bassist being stage-filler or whatever the stereotype is, but he really does a great job.

Having had a few days to listen to the song and Daisy and TDAG, I would be extrmely disappointed if this was the new direction they decided to take. I really really hope this song is an outlier on the album and I like this as much or more than their last three.

Implying that this song appeals to the same audience as Daisy makes no sense to me, both from the response on this site and in real life. I showed Nightmare to a group of my friends and everyone who thinks Daisy is their best work had the same reaction, that this is a fine catchy rock tune but is incredibly disappointing coming from Brand New. The others who are more into YFW or Deja are excited by the new direction.

Sorry to double post but this is my favorite band and they have put out my favorite record three different times. I never thought I would be on the other side of a polarizing new song.

That new frightened rabbit record is nothing to joke about. Talk about masterful lyrics, I Wish I was Sober is unreal.

I don't like YFW or Deja and I like the new song. I wouldn't say we have a new direction though, just a new song.

It doesn't make sense to me either as I don't think it sounds like either, but it is what I observed. It's something new, which is what we should expect from this band by now.

You are correct it is just one new song maybe ''new direction" wasn't the proper way to say that.

I think YFW holds up better than TAYF.
