I haven't listened to this album a lot but I know almost every word. That's become a real strength of Brian's songwriting. Painkillers was the same for me.

How do you know almost every word if you haven't listened a lot?

    Because it's insanely catchy.
By not a lot I mean maybe 10 times tops. I usually listen to CDs in the car or stream at work, so I don't consider 10 listens a lot. I'd understand if someone listened exclusively to vinyl 10 listens might seem like a fair few. In fairness, the vinyl listener would be listening more intently in most cases.

I mean, I think that's super impressive. You've only heard the album 10 times and know every word?

I'd say 90% of them yeah. So thanks but I can assure you I am unimpressive haha. Very catchy album!

I wish there were even more tracks from this album, like b-sides, because it’s still such a fun listen. I was wondering if there would be something for Record Store Day but I didn’t see anything on the list when it was posted.

  7. Picked this up today at a record store near my friend’s place on Long Island. Pressing is really nice on the 2xLP

Saw the show this weekend, was great as expected. Doing a cool version of Red Lights that starts slow and then kicks in and speeds up, really cool. Brian was in good spirits. 4 songs from the Crowes album tonight.

    My minor nitpicks:
    1) Only 6 new songs, and only 1 from the glorious back half of the album......just bad luck for me I guess as he debuted Proof of Life and I Believe Jesus, neither of which I'm personally in love with. Proof of Life replacing See You On the Other Side in the set was a big kick in the nuts after not getting Watson or Neptune either. Like I said, minor nitpicks....

    2) Compared to the album, I really miss some of the extra instrumentation......feel like this show would be BETTER with a 6-7 person band instead of 4, including a full time keys guy.

Etta James and '59 on Piano were highlights for sure.

In Nashville he had Elsie, painkillers, and sleepwalkers all standard vinyl releases.

    After a squillion listens:
. Etta James is still his best non-Gaslight song
. Watson is up there too
. Her Majesty's Service has grown on me a lot -- in a battle with the opening two tracks and the closer for my favourites
. There isn't a weak song but the combo of Sleepwalkers/My Name is the Night is a definite lull for me

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

After a couple full listens of the album yesterday, I could do without "Proof of Life" even though I really liked it initially. Also, "My Name is the Night" is just okay. Not great, not bad, just meh. Other than that, this album is such a fun listen. You can tell he really had a good time recording it. I agree with the posts above, it'd be cool if he had an extra 1 or 2 people in his band to fill things out a little more, or just being Alex R. in to go back and forth between keys and guitar.

Pretty excited to go see Brian next week. Also I love Ruston Kelly and have never seen him live so should be a very good evening.

A few other things to add. The version of Prayers we got in concert had a long extended guitar solo at the end; was cool way to end the set.

Proof of Life featured mandolin instead of drums.

I Witnessed a Crime was cool to get.

Just popping in to say that I don’t think we’re talking enough about that last 90 seconds of “Little Nightmares”. Something about it puts a big, dumb smile on my face.

Do you happen to know if there's any video from that show? I'd love to see that version of Prayers :)

My parents saw Brian last night in Cali. Idk what’s even going on. Somehow I'm stuck watching their dog in Wisconsin while they see my favorite artists.

I'm not sure yet. I woke up to pictures and some video they took. They just started talking to me, so they must be up for the day now.

They know Brian Fallon second hand through me, but my sister is a huge fan so she bought them tickets to tag along with her while they were out west visiting her. I would assume my Dad did because he basically turned me on to some of the greatest growing up, so I'll be curious to see what they thought!

Update: Their response to my asking how it went was "It was good." :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:
