I change favourites on this album with every couple of listens, usually 'In Chains' or Thinking of a Place'

Pain because those solos are both all timers.

Any huge LitD fans (I consider it an all-time album for me) see this sneaking up on it the more you spend time with it?

I can certainly say that LitD takes the cake for me, but the gap is always closing the more I listen to ADU.

    .

This album is excellent but I still put it a notch below Lost in the Dream—a lot of the same devices and aesthetics are at play, but it's much tidier sonically and features a much clearer separation of instruments and voice, which sucks some of the mystery out of it for me.

That said, it’s definitely growing on me over time, and I already think “Thinking of a Place” is their best song. We’ll see...

If anything I think I might prefer this album, partly because I think the clearer sound allows the songwriting to more fully shine through for me. But both albums are absolutely incredible.

I think it’s a pretty substantial step up from Lost in the Dream, and I love that album. I just think it’s more consistently great.

  8. I absolutely adore Lost in the Dream and that record still means a whole lot to me. But this record is something else altogether for me, definitely a step up.

I couldn't pick one over the other, they're like two sides of the same coin. Love them both.

Why wasn't "Knocked Down" like the biggest song in AAA radio last year?

Man is this album incredible. I still get goosebumps listening to it. After sitting with it for all these months I can definitely say I love it more than Lost In The Dream, which it's almost inconceivable that they were able to top it.

I saw them a few weeks back in Melbourne, they were phenomenal.
One of the best live performances I've ever seen.

My 65 year old profressor before class the other day was like “do you guys like The War on Drugs?” then proceeded to play “pain”. It was so badass
