Shower Scene too. I think it's a solid pop punk record from that era, I can still enjoy every song off of it

Shower Scene, No Seatbelt, Logan and Soco are a cut above the rest. (Okay, there might be nostalgia factored in for Soco.) Not denying how catchy the songs on that album are, but those are ones that don't feel too out of place in setlists.

Hi, I've been lurking since the original untitled demo leaks. I figured I owe it to join and start contributing by now.

It's hard walking into a new Brand New track without the expectation that the accompanying album will be an opus to this new phase in our lives. After Daisy I've tried to be cognizant of my lofty expectations and do my best to listen as if I never heard them before. However, i just can't..

To me it seems like something was lost during Daisy. Lyrically I understand Jesse needed a break and to pass the torch and write collaboratively with Vin. The raw sound of Daisy was reflective of their frustration during and because of the creative process.

I feel like if you didn't dig Daisy, Mene and Nightmare might not be your boat. I think both songs lack a sense of dynamics both lyrically and in song structure. The chorus in Nightmare is repetitive and it feels like it just needs a nudge at the end of it to make it not sound like a sound loop. We're also drawn to dramatic bridges that compliment the versus but also take us by surprise like two creative sounds were put together in a way that ended up complimenting each other - the musical equivalent of a frosty and french fries. Both of these songs lack that. They're french fries or frosties - but not both.

Pre-Daisy, it always sounded like the lyrics were written first and they found a creative way to build a song around them. I think that's what drew me in and kept me hooked the longest - the witty lyrics, the clever use of alliteration, placement of irony, and well intention ed meaning. Currently it seems as if the music was written first and lyrics were thrown on top of it. I find the comparisons to YFW limited. YFW had a simple sound, however it felt like each song was crammed with so much content that the time limits of each song were the main inhibitors of conveying each song's thought/feeling.

That being said - i'm glad they have new content coming out and i'm looking forward to the new album. I plan on dismounting my high-horse and enjoying it for what it is on release day.

I'm sure this has probably been discussed, but I just realized the single's artwork was done by the company who did the liner artwork for Daisy and TDAG. Probably shouldn't be throwing any more wood on the "new album incoming?" fire, but that does pique my interest.

That's got more credence to it than my thought - 'Both Mene and Nightmare have the same colour background - album confirmed' :')

I'm not sure if most are in denial but to me this song, lyrics excluded, is a major letdown. Expectations coming in were that it would be more upbeat and catchy but this just isn't cutting it. The main riff at the beginning and throughout is boring and cheesy, same with the chorus. This is brand new. The bar was set very high high based on their previous 4 albums ( 5 counting leaked demos 2006) and this song does not hold up, plain and simple. It's weak. Hopefully my opinion changes but I've listened about 15 times already it does get a little better each time but damn what a letdown.

I just don't see how people can listen to the same track 15-20 times in a day or less. I'll listen to a song 2-3 times in a row at the most before I'm ready to listen to something else.

I like Brand New just as much as the next person, but even still, that's the best way to ruin a song for me.

I must've listened to TDAG like 1000 times. It's my favourite album by anybody, and it still doesn't get old to me. I find myself noticing little nuances I've never heard so often still, it's incredible to me. Some stuff you just can't ruin. Mene I've listened to an insane amount too. People consume music very differently ha!

Same here. I can loop an album all day, but a single song will usually get boring after a few listens.

I hear ya but still. The song is weak. They're capable of much better. Catchy upbeat songs like archers and not the sun are a million times better than I am a nightmare. Very disappointed.

People hated on Shone but that album was great. It's essentially brand new without Jesse and its experimental and dark and rocking and catchy all in one. I hope brand new didnt channel all of that darkness into shone and leave pure pop for new brand new

Shone is probably the worst thing I've tried to listen to in recent memory. Kept trying to make excuses for it because it was associated with Brand New, but every time I've attempted a listen I've cringed the whole album.

Not really seeing the correlation of liking Nightmare if you're a Daisy fan. If anything I would argue the opposite.

Wild/Letter is my favourite by him/them. From the green album with a giraffe-looking thing on. But Handsome from the newer one is cool and the two eps have wicked songs dotted here, there and everywhere. His voice can be bloody annoying to some people though. Wild/Letter for example, there's like an Elvis 'uh huh, yeah' between each line, but it's a damn cool song to me.
