Also they both like to stall time and wait until the play is broken to throw to an open WR, rather than make reads properly so they can throw within the timing of the play.

Very bad habit that they get away with in college becuase they are elusive. But the pocket containment in the pros is far more disciplined, NFL dLines know how to corral the QB and corner them, rather than chasing him around aimlessly. QB who try that shit in the NFL just become sack magnets.

Nah not a depth thing. I like him a lot. I was going through the same cancer treatment he had while he was winning a super bowl, so it was kinda an extra motivator to finish it off. Happy for him, just a smidge bummed.

Its interesting to me that the Browns fan agrees with me. Because you and I arent comparing the players' college careers per se. You got a good look at Manziel trying to change and become a pro player and the issues he ran into there. Thats kinda what I'm basing this on as well. They may not have exactly the same playing style when they are putting up numbers... but the flaws and obstacles that will make NFL style football challenging for them, are very similar.

Yeah, that's why you're wrong man haha. Browns fucked up Manziel and Manziel fucked up Manziel. The obstacles are not comparable at all. Tyrod is there to start this year and also groom whoever they take. The flaws do not exist because Mayfield, that we know of, is not dealing with the extensive personal issues that Manziel was. We can also assume the Browns aren't going to fuck up his coaching in the same way.

 

I am literally only talking about on the field man.

And even though I say he will struggle in the same ways, that doesn't mean hes not developable. Yeah Manziel was an utter failure, and both him and the Browns could have done better, but that's not the point.

I'm not saying the QBs' destiny is the same, they just have similar game flaws and obstacles to overcome. Mayfield might do a better job overcoming them, or have better weapons, or have more patient coaching, or do less drugs than Manziel haha anything can happen. But I think rookie Mayfield is gonna look a lot like Manziel did in his limited playing time

Mayfield is far from being able to throw with timing or stay clean in the pocket.

 

Weird for the Rams, he was really good for them last year

I mean how much did Manziel start? There hasn't been a single year that Manziel was the presumptive starter so I don't see how Tyrod Taylor is the big difference.
