The instructions made it look so simply that it just snaps together!

Let me tell you, it absolutely didn't the way the instructions showed

My kids did not sleep last night. Neither did I.

  3. I feel awful when I work late and wake up with our son in bed (meaning my wife had to get up in the middle of the night to get him). She says it’s not a problem at all because I was working late but it still sucks to know I didn’t hear him, I wasn’t awake to help, etc.

Yeah, my son has been waking up in the middle of the night pretty regularly for the last few weeks. I’m pretty sure it’s teething, but it’s been killer. No matter how early I go to bed, that middle of the night wake up always makes me feel groggy the next day.

  5. Poor guy. My 2 year old woke up in the middle of the night asking for "BIG BED!" meaning he wanted to sleep with my wife and I. I don't mind bringing him in at like 5/6am but this was not even 1am and she hasn't been sleeping well so I just slept on the floor with him for a while and went back to bed at around 2:45. He (and effectively we) slept until 8. it was glorious

Daylight Savings is wrecking my son's sleep patterns this week. It's been truly awful. Doesn't help that this is one of the busiest two weeks of work I've had since Christmas. I am barely functioning right now.

It also doesn't help that I had the following conversation with my son early this morning in the dark before the sun was up:

"Daddy, I scared of the people."
    "What people, buddy?"
"The people, they're in the room, yeah. I scared of the people."

He says this while staring down the darkened hallway leading to his bedroom. About an hour ago my wife texted me to say she had the weirdest conversation with him:

"I want to lay down with mama."
"Do you like sleeping on the mattress with mama on the couch next to you?" (this is a tactic we've been employing lately when he won't go back to sleep in his bed.
    "Yes! Cuz I'm scared."
"What are you scared of, honey?"
"I scared of the people. Daddy, he cried cuz of the people. Daddy doesn't like the people. Oh no."
"Daddy doesn't like the people? What people, honey?"
"The people doesn't like daddy. I want milk, mama."

So...I mean yeah I'm pretty sure we're being haunted now so that's neat lol.

  7. HOLY. CRAP. How old is he? How far am I from this madness? A friend of ours has a three year old that recently started talking about "the yellow man" being outside. She's SUPER frightened. She's pretty sure he means the Man in the Yellow Hat from Curious George but why are kids so CREEPY?! haha.

My son used to say there was a ghost in his room and that he looked like a worker (he’s really into construction). He was never scared about it but he would just say it casually at such random times.

Haha, my son is just about two and a half. He’s been a little chatterbox from the get-go, but latey he’s developing fears and it occasionally gets creepy. We recently read him the book “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”, forgetting how kinda weird and terrifying that book actually is (especially for a toddler) and now when we go to read him books at night he always makes sure to clarify “not the lady book.” Right after we’d read him the book, he started waking up screaming and shaking. I’d go in his room and hold him and ask him what he was so afraid of and, you know, 3 a.m., pitch black, eerily quiet, and out of the darkness all I can hear is his little whisper “the lady.”

I love my son to death, but he also excels at scaring the bejesus out of me.

So... I really want to have a me and daughter time before our second kid arrives, which my wife is being induced 24APR2018. She's not due though until the first week of May.

I have been deployed multiple times over the course of my 5 year old daughters life. I'm currently at recruiting school (2 months long). I go back home Easter weekend.

I want to have a final dad/daughter time before kid number 2 arrives. Special final bonding time, just the two of us.

Our fam is HUGE on Disney. I worked at Disneyland, Wife worked at WDW.

Wife has done 13+ trips to Disneyland without me, due to deployments, etc.

I have never done Disney stuff w/ my kid.

I grew up doing solo trips w/ parent(s) growing up in SoCal.

I want to take my kid to WDW when I go home, wife disagrees...

We're moving to Boston area in late April/early May.... far from current spot of NC. So who knows when the next Disney trip would be.

So, should I go through with it, and make at least one memory of just me and kid, or just do something like Great Wolf Lodge instead for a night or two?

Where do you live in NC? I think either way you will make great memories. I personally believe that WDW is getting so overpriced and why not go to a place you can just as much fun?

Fort Bragg/Fayetteville. It's about just under 8 hrs if I drive with minimal stops over the last 5 trips over the last 4 years we've been stationed there. But now I'll be 20 hrs drive with us living in Cape Cod. Furthest I'll ever be from a Disney park, to include my time in Korea, Kuwait, Jordan and Duabi.

Also, WDW just announced today they're charging for parking for guests at their own resorts, which is absolute bull shit.

My condolences. Nah... outside of losing Brixx Pizza this week, Fay isn't too bad. Best city I've been to States wise between Lawton, Killeen (Pre In-N-Out opening) and now Fayetteville. Lots of great stuff for parents. My wife ran/runs a local kids group but no one wants to take that over, sooooo yeah. Really dig the centralness of the east coast. Raleigh is awesome for weekend escapes, and SC/GA isn't far for occasional trips. What brings you to Fayettenam?

My wife's family is split between the Fayetteville/Charlotte area. We will be in Fayetteville for at least two years and then settle somewhere in between. My brother in law is actually a military MD at Fort Bragg as well. They live in Cameron. I am going to be working at Cape Fear.

We've taken our daughter to CF a couple times, and my wife has gone there once before... no issue ourselves but a lot of bad stories have been told about that place. There was actually an opinion posted on Fayetteville Observer newspaper about the hospital a week or two ago. Best of luck out here! If you need any tips on the area let me know and I'd love to help out.

Bad stories are everywhere. I'm not that concerned. I have been working in hospitals a long time so I know there are pro's and cons to every place.

Thank you and I will definitely hit you up if I need advice on the area. We are excited to move closer to family with our second one on the way in July.

We actually have a close from friend from PHX who recently got hired there as well... it sounds like it's gotten a lot better over the last year, but there have been a lot of crazy stories there over the last four years we've been here.

I guess I'm the only one but my son sleeps terribly (if at all) when somebody else is in the bed/room with him.

A few weeks ago there was a thunderstorm in the middle of the night and I heard him screaming over the monitor. So I go to check on him and he's running around in circles in the middle of his room. I thought maybe it was a combo of the storm and the fact that we just switched him to a full sized bed that freaked him out so I laid down next to him to try to get him back to sleep. I woke up to him an hour later shoving his students animal that he sleeps with in my face and trying to get me to kiss it. This is at like 4 am at this point so I just get up and tell him go back to bed and left. He seemed to go back to sleep for a few hours after I left.

Before bed, my son asked if we could stay up and read comics together. I'm not crying.
