Welp new Parkway Drive record is turnin out to be more Octane radio than ever:

It's a bummer. They used to be one of the best at their style of metalcore and Winston's vocals blew me away but idk why he's trying to sounds like Machine Head. Doesn't really work for them imo.

Shit. He was only 27 too. RIP. Glad I got to see him shred the kit live once at MDF a few years ago.

Haha sorry man, not hating on Octane itself! Just not the general sound I was hoping for from a band like PWD

It’s a logical step in the direction they were going with IRE and it will alienate a lot of people that enjoyed their older albums but it’s still them for sure. The solo at 2:20 is pretty sick.

It's not my favorite sound either, but it's going to win them a huge new set of fans, especially on mainstream rock radio. I'm thinking they're wanting to lead with this single to draw the new people in, and then (I'm hoping) the majority of the album is heavy rippers, like we've found on previous albums, especially Horizons.

Horizons is my favorite album of theirs.

Haven't listened to The Void yet, but I'm bummed by the new direction of PWD.

I'm fine with them exploring/going softer, but the quality of IRE and the first of the new singles just doesn't match up to their older stuff.

Parkway Drive has put out 4 great metalcore records that I don't really mind they've gone more mainstream with Ire and this new one. The Void is obviously the radio rock single, while Wishing Wells opens the record and is a certifiable banger. I thought Ire was trash at first, but it's become my go-to PWD record now.

The new Rivers of Nihil album is tight as hell. Sax never sounded so good.

oh man I had the total opposite response to the brass instruments. I'm not gonna judge the album based on a few select tracks but I mean...first the faceless with the flute solo and now this...what is happening in the world of tech death.

maybe I'll start with this. I remember liking PWD when I first spun it in like 2007 but I never kept up for some reason. You guys have motivated me to get back into it.

FWIW I liked The Void, just catchy radio rock it's not a memorable song or anything.

Duuuuuude, I've posted this a million times in here, but always good to post again; watch this - sums up the band and their live show pretty well

I LOVE Killing With a Smile. In my opinion, it's easily their best but it's usually overlooked.

It's good but the production and his vocals are "off".

Yeah production on that wasn't the greatest; on Horizons they had Adam D of Killswitch Engage at the helm, which really helped

Eh... I didn't mind the vocals or production. Horizons probably sounds better but the songs on KWAS are my favorites.

I was actually getting kind of bored with the album until I got to this track. Basically the album has a great opener...then I went to sleep...and then the end floors you. I liked it, could only imagine my response if I heard it when it came out.

I once drove on a road called Parkway Drive. The drive was much more pleasurable than this new song from band Parkway Drive.

I don't hate the new Parkway Drive single. Definitely enjoy it more than the last one, at any rate. Then again, I've always been a pretty casual fan of the band so I don't really have any reason to feel disappointed or let down that they're pursuing a more mainstream-ready sound.
