Yeah, WWE can rewrite their own rules at any given moment. If someone sells Vince on Carmella cashing in on the Raw champ, she'll do it and they will justify it somehow, like randomly mentioning that Kurt traded for the rights to Carmella and the MITB contract because of Asuka challenging the SD champ instead of the Raw champ.
